The Chinese Slam Dunk Contest Was A Pit Of Sadness
I think he is still a better dunker than this guy. But he wouldn't do it I guess. Superstars don't want to embarrass theirselves ......
Give the dunker some credit. Maybe he couldn't deal with the spotlight and was nervous
I don't see how the NBAs would be. Don't get why people are so under appreciative of our dunk contest. It seems as if every year people are disappointed and thought it could have been better, IMO people just don't learn and overrate the dunk contest there selfs. if you don't think it will be good then don't watch it ,these are some of the best Dunkers on the planet and yes it is getting better every year just look at the winner of the 90s and early 2000s.If people did there dunks in today's dunk contest, they wouldn't have a chance. People say Vince Carter had the best dunk contest ever(which is well deserved for when he did it)but if he did the exact same dunks in this years dunk contest it wouldn't be impressive at all.
To me the time limit isn't a good idea. I think you should only get two attempts per your dunk. If you miss twice, too bad. Seeing some guy miss the same dunk 4 and 5 times makes me really care less when he finally does make it.
Hell, when I was in college, at a DII school...in Kansas!, our intramural dunk contest beat this. 1st place jumped over a ball rack, 2nd did the shirt over the head tomahawk....I got 4th out of 8, but no one took more than 3 tries to put down what we attempted.
Failure!

The CBA held its all-star game in Guangzhou last night, and like in past years, it was kind of a mess. (The festivities took place between the end of the regular season and the beginning of the playoffs, so anyone who took part had either mentally checked out for the year or had much more important basketball on their mind.) These are the "highlights" ofthe dunk contest, and we're suddenly struck by a new appreciation for Terrence Ross.
The winner was Zhai Yi, a third-string guard for Shanghai, and even the champion's dunks weren't pretty. The contest was sponsored by shoe company Li-Ning, and Zhai hoped to slam the ball while sticking a sneaker to the backboard. The shoe stuck, but the ball didn't go in. He eventually put it in on his third attempt, the shoe hovering as a mute witness to his failure.
Zhai's second dunk was more successful, and just as unimpressive. Taking a cue from Blake Griffin skying over a Kia, Zhai dunked over a tiny little go-kart shaped like a sneaker. Except he sort of jumped around the front of it, even though it was only about 18 inches high at that end. He also needed three attempts. This was one:
Second place went to Sen Tiangui for trying (and failing) to dunk over an oversized novelty inflatable rice ball, performed after serving the judges some rice balls. (Happy Chinese New Year!) He would get it on the second attempt, and receive 48 out of a possible 50 points.
Gao Shang, who tried and failed seven times to complete a boring prop-less dunk, received 30 points anyway and took third. Shark Fin Hoops has your full write-up, if you enjoy sadness.
