Mr. HookShotParticipantThe Hornets have been one of the most active teams thus far, being part of three of the larger deals this off-season. In essence, they swapped one SF for another (Batum for Henderson), one SG for another (Lamb for Stephenson), and one shooting big man for another (Hawes for Vonleh). They gave up some potential (Stephenson and Vonleh) for more proven commodities who had below average seasons (Batum, Hawes). Right now, their potential rotation looks like this:
PG Walker – Williams (RFA)
SG Booker – Lamb – Hairston – Daniels
SF Batum – MKG
PF Zeller – Williams – Davis (?)
C Jefferson – Hawes – Biyombo(RFA)That looks like a balanced team, with both shooters and guys who like to take it to the rim. Batum can help in taking the pressure of Walker at times in the creating department, and Booker will open up the game for guys who like to play inside like Jefferson. They still need additional help, especially a veteran back-up PG (maybe bring Mo Williams back?), some depth up-front (Someone like Ed Davis or Brandon Bass, and bring back Biyombo as a defensive big) and they still have their lottery pick. Initially I thought they would go for Cauley-Stein, but the reports about his injuries together with the fact they have different needs I believe the Hornets go another way. I think they will pick up a shooter to pair with Walker and pick Devin Booker. With him and some other additions they will have a solid team top-to-bottom. Maybe not top four in the East but definitely a play-off team with still room to grow.

CoolidgerParticipantIt’s been reported that Matt Barnes was actually (and officially now) traded to the Grizzlies for Luke Ridnours non guaranteed contract instead. Meaning the Barnes for Lamb trade never went through, and Jeremy Lamb is still on the OKC Thunder roster.

gforce03ParticipantCho doesn’t stop there, reports are saying OKC doesn’t want to pay the 1m in Barnes non guarantee contract, meaning Hornets may still swap Ridnour for Lamb.

XYRYXParticipantThat’s true that the Hornets changed their mind and traded Barnes to the Grizz for Ridnour BUT as legend says Lamb got traded for the newly aquired Ridnour to the Hornets and Presti got a 2016 2nd rounder on top of that.
So Lamb with the Hornets now
Ridnour with the Thunder now (and to be released)
Barnes with the Grizz now (and also to be released I think)
The only thing I don’t get is if Barnes and Ridnour are both released, why traded the Grizz for Barnes if they could have just cut Ridnour straight out?

XYRYXParticipantWoj is reporting via twitter, that the Grizzlies want to keep Barnes and the final year of his contract so this mystery seems to be solved to me.
Maybe they can use this contract at 3.5 million but only 1 million guaranteed later in the offseason or season to offer trams that need to shed salary.

gforce03ParticipantLike above said, Batum is starting at SG and let me say this once, MKG is ready as a NBA starter already, it makes me sad sometimes when people are still calling him a bad pick consider how much improvements he made so far, especially on his shooting form.

machu46ParticipantI’m sure they can make the playoffs as a 7 or 8 seed, but they’re starting to look like that team that thinks that’s good enough. Hopefully this is an incomplete picture and they have more moves up their sleeves because this roster looks like it will top out as a weak playoff team. The only guy that’s really an above average starter is Jefferson (unless Batum turns his game around).

festar35ParticipantWalker is very inconsistent and to me a better 6th man than starting PG, I would be surprised if Payne was picked at #9 as I think he would be more efficient in Charlotte going forward.
I still like the Kaminsky pick for Charlotte, makes a lot of sense.

LALEAKERSParticipantTurns out Hornets do not get Lamb in the trade and he’s staying in OKC for the time being. tonight

Lotto StudParticipantThis has got to be one frustrating stint for Lamb after playing so well on the collegiate level only to "not" make the most of his billing.
