Charges Against P.J. Hairston Dropped

The marijuana possession & driving without a license charges were dropped according to ESPN. Hopefully Hairston can now focus on basketball, but I wouldn't be surprised if Roy Williams suspends him for a few games.

Guess he will get a few games

Guess he will get a few games suspension. +1 also for your elite use of an obscure Happy Gilmore character as a user name!

This is more evidence that

This is more evidence that there's a.) just because he's good at basketball doesn't mean that he got special treatment, because people who aren't 'famous' get off for the same types of crimes everyday so you can't say it was his celebrity status that got him off b.) UNC, DUKE, Notre Dame, whatever, it's total BS that they recruit higher-quality character players or they 'do things the right way'. There's no such thing when it comes to the type of money college sports brings. If you believe so you're naive.

Great post!

1. I got some connections in the UNC bball office and they didn't give me specifics, but here are the dots that I have connected. PJ did not know his buddies had weed on them. When they pulled up to the stop he was looking for his liscense and couldn't find it and they switched spots. They cops found the weed. PJ volunteered to have a state appointed drug test that night and he tested without having any marijuana in his system. The other passengers in the car did not volunteer to the test (hence why they are still facing charges). The gun found outside of the car was not traced back to any of the passengers.

2. BYU is the only school that can make a claim to "doing things the right way" ;)

3. I am guessing his punishment will be a lot of running and probably a 5 game suspension from Roy. Even though the cars were not specifically rented for him he still drove them and Roy is not happy in the least at this.

I think it's funny that the other two guys in the car are still facing misdemeanors...

However the legal charges are the least of his worries and UNC's...they knew from the start that they would never actually charge a Carolina player. This whole thing actually put UNC into a pretty sticky situation because it came out in the reports who had rented the car for PJ.

If the NCAA has the balls, there will be some punishments handed down.

Place your wagers now

How much you wanna bet nothing whatsoever comes of the (obvious NCAA violation) rental car he was driving being from a booster?

On the plus side, getting him back on the team just gives UNC that many more weapons on offense.. (sorry couldn't resist)
