Chalmers is the new Derrick Fisher. Chalmers will play the same role Fisher had when the Lakers were winning Championships

Chalmers is legit.  Whatever role he has with Miami, he should be comfortable with.  LeBron and D-Wade really took him in as a little brother.  They get after him whenever he makes bad decisions and that has really helped him improve during his NBA career.

Because of the help from LeBron and Wade, Chalmers has developed into a very solid NBA point guard, and a guy the Miami Heat can rely on to hit clutch buckets whenever his number is called.  If he wasn’t on a team with as much talent as Miami, I could see Chalmers dropping about 16+ PPG to go along with about 7 APG.

He does everything right.  With LeBron handeling the ball a lot, it’s hard for him to make plays for his teammates.  Having a future Hall of Famer play point-forward is tough for his assists numbers, however LeBron is fabulous at driving to the rim and kicking it out to Chalmers for an open 3-ball.

I think Chalmers is going to stay in Miami as long as LeBron and Wade are both still there.  He is a Derek Fisher like player for this team, and he just does everything right.  He is a very good player, and I will be looking forward to seeing him progress and hopefully become an even more important factor in a Miami Heat chase for the NBA Championship.

i hate to brag but a lot of fans gave up on him last year. after his rookie year, i knew he had some game.

i really like the kid, he use to make tons of stupid mistakes that would have fans going crazy (like fouling on 3 pts) but he def decrease those rookie mistakes this year and was the 4th best player in a heat uniform throughout the year.

i see why you compare to fisher.

When I read the name "Mario Chalmers" I picture Stephen A. Smith in my head and hear him shriek.

    Lord help me…

I had high hopes for him after his rookie season. I guess hanging out with Michael Beasley and smoking weed stops you from reaching your full potential

^ that is not BS. there is a picture in the internet of them smoking a blunt together. he was best friends with beas

hanging out with him certainly didn’t help, it hindered his success.

I think that Mario Chalmers can ball.  He hit that big shot against Memphis and has hit big playoff shots in his short time in the NBA so far to go along with one title and another Finals appearance.

I have been saying that he reminds me of Chauncey Billups.  Billups can play too, and has had a great career but he kind of started off slowly, but really picked it up on the Pistons as a key guy on a deep team.

Here are how the numbers stack up for Billups and Chalmers in their 1st, 3rd, and 4th years (Billups had a spike up in stats for his second year).

    Chauncey Billups

            Pts.   Assists

    1st:  11.2   3.9

    3rd:  8.6   3.0

    4th:   9.3   3.4

    Chalmers:

           Pts.    Assists

    1st:  10.0   4.9

    3rd:  6.4   2.5

    4th:   9.8   3.5

As you can see each put up decent numbers their rookie year, and very similar numbers their 4th season.  I think Chalmers is on a great team that fits his skill set.  I think his production will continue to rise and I think he will win some more titles there.  Not sure if he ever makes an all-star game, but I can definitely see some comparisons between Mario Chalmers and Chauncey Billups.  Both guys have some swagger and can hit the big shot.  Neither guys are pure point guards but each guy can run an offense fairly well with both players looking a bit bigger than their counterparts.

I can also see the Derek Fisher comparisons, but I think Mario Chalmers has more upside.  I can see Chalmers ending up somewhere between Fisher and Billups.

    Chalmers can definately ball.
he’s one of the best 3pt shooting PG’s in the whole league.
16 and 7 isnt far fetched if he was on a different team, but he fits very well with this role and is the perfect player for that position for the Heat.
