Celtics attempting to trade for Cousins

The Kings’ center, who has been connected to the Celtics in trade rumors for more than a month, could be on his way to Boston by Monday morning, according to a report. A source told NBAonNBC.com that Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge was working to complete a deal to bring Cousins to the Celtics by the end of Sunday night.

Be a pretty interesting trade, wouldn't mind seeing KG tutor Cousins. Might even learn a bit about maturity from Sullinger too

Wow. Jeff Green, Jason

Wow. Jeff Green, Jason Terry, Jared Sullinger and Courtney Lee have been packaged in an offer for Cousins, the website reports. The inclusion of Avery Bradley appears to be a sticking point.

The Kings are already loaded with guards. No wonder Avery Bradley is a sticking point, I would not be giving up 5 players if I were the Celtics....

I REALLY hope the Kings don't

I REALLY hope the Kings don't do this trade. Cousins is playing like a centerpiece, and none of what they would get in return is going to make them much better now, or in the future. I really don't understand why they would do this.
If you want to be a team that fights for the 8th spot for a few years, after years of not being in the playoffs, I'm done watching. I thought you were attempting to build something.

I agree with you... but the

I agree with you... but the Kings have no choice but to trade Cousins or trade the rest of the team instead. The players have turned on him. No one backs him up anymore, including the coach (who was always in his corner) and that type of locker room camaraderie can't be too productive. How can the Kings make things work on the court when they can't do it in the locker room?

Maybe. If you have seen the

Maybe.
If you have seen the way he and the team have played in the last week you would not be saying that though.
Cousins is laughing, smiling, admitting to fouls, keeping quiet as much as nba players keep quiet towards refs. He is passing out of double teams, and his teammates are giving him the ball to run the offense. He has been the best player on the court
It is literally night and day. This week he has been everything we all know he can be. You do not trade an asset like that, at one of his lowest possible times. That's business 101.
You say trade the team, but I don't think they need to trade anyone but Tyreke. I don't see them resigning him, so trade him while you can get something.
I don't know how long this "new" Cousins will last, but I watched them get blown out the other night, just to keep watching him play. You do not trade this guy for those pieces.

I have seen whats happening

I have seen whats happening lately and its a refreshing change, but forward thinking tells us it won't last. Cousins will blow up again and the question becomes, can the rest of the team take another incident? Will they just bounce back and say this is Cousins being Cousins or will that be the last straw?

If the Kings were looking to boost value for Cousins the best approach would be to have him and the team be successful.

You are aware that

Jeff Green has a horrible contract?

I am sure you would like to do that trade. I seriously hope the Kings wouldn't be that stupid...

Smh .....

Thank you!!!!! Finally

Thank you!!!!! Finally there's a GM with enough balls to trade for the guys who's going to be the most dominant big since Shaq. But the thing is that the Kings seem stingy about dealing Cousins. But I don't know what the Celtics have to offer. Avery Bradley and Jared Sullinger seem like they'd be the centerpieces of any deal, but how many more guards do the Kings need? The only other valuable piece I can think of is Courtney Lee, but he's also a guard. Or would Danny Ainge do the unthinkable and deal Rondo.....................

To make salaries match, the

To make salaries match, the Celts would have to take back some combination of Kings players besides just Cousins. The Kings aren't going to give away Cousins without making the other team take at least a couple of their multi year contract guys - Garcia, Outlaw, Hayes, Brooks, Salmons or maybe even Thornton.

Looks like a low-level media

Looks like a low-level media outlet clamoring for its 15 seconds of fame...

I have to laugh at stuff like this. It's like Boston fans are trying to will a trade for Cousins to happen, but it's simply not real. Sigh. Yawn.

Per Sam Amick's Twitter, an ethical and esteemed national writer who is based in Sacto... "DeMarcus Cousins is not going to the Celtics. Teams continue to be told that he's not available. That is all."

Thats par for the course.

Thats par for the course. Don't teams always say "We're not trading" so and so... only for us to read a trade has occured a little while later?

Cousins is available, like virtually every player in the league, for the right price.

David Aldridge interviewed

David Aldridge interviewed Kings' GM Geoff Petrie just a couple days ago for NBA.com. His response to rumors of trading DMC:

"You can put that one to rest," Petrie said. "He's not going anywhere. You can lay that to rest. Some of that stuff lives in its own reality."

Exactly nobody on the inside of the Kings organization even believes the team is considering a trade. Other people just really want to believe this stuff, and some attention-seeking media will cater to that. It's shameful "journalism." If you're a Boston fan, I wouldn't stay up late tonight.

Sam Amick, a reliable source,

Sam Amick, a reliable source, says that he's not going to the Celtics. But the Celts have also just waived Kris Joseph and Jarvis Varnado, leading some to believe that those transactions were to open the door for a blockbuster deal.

If Cousins does indeed go to the Celts, they're automatically my 3rd favorite in the East and are in position in my opinion to knock off Miami. Size is the one thing Miami lacks, and Boogie is a big boy who along with KG can give Bosh some trouble. I really want to see him go to an organization with some direction and playing with a PG like Rondo would do wonders for him. I would pencil him in for 24 and 12 if the trade happens.

If they are trading half

If they are trading half their roster to Sacramento for Cousins, cutting people doesn't seem to make sense.

Joseph and Varnado were cut

Joseph and Varnado were cut because in a few days players contracts become guaranteed, there's going to be a whole slew of players that are going to be released.

This is assuming that Cousins

This is assuming that Cousins pulls his head and behaves himself in Boston. What about if it doesn't happen ? What if he keeps playing up ? Upsetting two teams, Cousins trade value would be rock bottom and Boston would of traded nearly half of its team for him.

There also needs to be more pieces added for salaries / rosters as you can't just trade 5 players for only 1 player.

I really would love to see

I really would love to see KG, Pierce and Rondo go grazy when cousins keeps on shooting long 2s or is just acting like a fool again...

In the end I think the Celtics should pull the trigger on this one if they can keep some sgs in a possible trade. They simply can't let go anyone on the team who can play the 2 not to mention that sacto still has Reeke, Thornton, Thomas, Jimmer who all need the ball in their hands and adding Terry, Bradley and Lee would be a crazy move by the Kings but you're right there have to be more players involved to make salaries work an I don't think the Kings will move and should move Cousins before a solution is found for Tyreke and I'm sure the only reason why the Kings will make a move is to save money in the long run and to dump salaries. They have a rediculous payrole if you consider that Robinson, Cousins, Evans, Jimmer and Thomas are all on relatively cheap rookie contracts.

I would love to the Celtics adding some talent and the leadership of let's say terry and Green would be a nice start for the Kings franchise but like said before, they need to find takers for their own logjam in their own backcourt first.

Jason Jones, Kings beat

Jason Jones, Kings beat writer for the Sacramento Bee, just now said via Twitter: "I'm told (again) there's "no chance" DeMarcus Cousins is being traded to the Boston Celtics."

This is consistent with Sam Amick and David Aldridge.

But hey, the news outlet that reports this has like 200 Twitter followers and 200 people followed. Sounds legit.

NESN (New England Sports Network) is definitely a credible source, who gives a damn how many twitter followers they have.

As long as we keep Rondo,

As long as we keep Rondo, Pierce, KG and either Courtney Lee or Avery Bradley, I'll be a very happy Celtics fan. Trade Green, Sullinger, Melo, Terry, Lee OR Bradley (not both), but just make sure we keep the veterans at the core of the team who will enable Cousins to succeed.

If it happens, it happens, either way I think the Celtics need to jettison Terry - dude doesn't defend anywhere near well enough to play with a team that plays this slow.

sending away avery bradley

sending away avery bradley will not help them beat the heat. the kid is a wade stopper and without him, wade will tear them up in the playoffs ALONG with lebron.

If the Kings pulled a move

If the Kings pulled a move this idiotic it would signal that there really is no hope for them. The Kings need to improve by consolidating their players, not by trading away their top talent for projects and rejects. The Kings have made similar moves before with the scraps of the early 2000's team, like when they traded Bibby to Atlanta for players who were never going to pan out. To trade a player with super-star potential right when he is showing signs of improvment, specifically emotional improvment, is a horrid move. Even if they managed to snag Rondo, there is no way in hell he would stay in sac after his contract is up. I hope this is all just fiction because it would be a huge mistake for the Kings.

Has anyone mentioned Cousins

Has anyone mentioned Cousins to the Wizards ?

I know they have just got rid of headaches Blatche and McGee, but they now have Okafor and Nene to mentor Cousins. Also John Wall and DMC were teammates at Kentucky. The Wizards have enough assets for a trade, not to mention a likely top 5 pick in this years draft
