From reported rumors, the cavaliers were talking to the celtics about assisting them in a trade, presumably to get the rim protector they desperately need.

My potential trade goes like this

    Boston gets

    • Tayshaun Prince
    • Quincy Pondexter
    • Brendan Haywood
    • Jarnell Stokes
    • Memphis 1st rounder via Cleveland

Boston does this to tank further and get an extra asset for rebuilding. They help the deal by taking on expiring deals to balance the money.

    Cleveland gets

    • Kosta Koufos
    • Nick Calathes

Cleveland get the rim protecting centre they need and a solid spot up shooter.

    Grizzlies get

    • Jeff Green
    • Brandan Wright

Grizzlies get a good back up centre in Brandan Wright for giving up Kosta Koufos who will most likely leave via free agency as he becomes an unrestricted free agent and is frustrated with the lack of playing time.

They also get Jeff Green who is a solid SF and gives them versatility as he can play both SF and PF. He adds perimetre shooting and solid defence against SF. I believe as the season progresses, the Grizzlies will realize that they will need a SF to compete with other contenders as their current rotation is the only below average position. They will need a better SF to beat OKC (Kevin Durant), Portland (Nicolas Batum), Dallas (Chandler Parsons), San Antonio (Kawhi Leonard), Golden State (Harrison Barnes + Andre Igloudala), Cleveland (LeBron James). Grizzlies were rumored to want to trade for Jeff Green this season but did not offer enough.

The only way I see this trade not happening is if Grizzlies decide to stick with their roster to not mess up chemistry as they are still winning.
