thetrademachineryParticipantit is understandable carmelo uses his no trade clause, but knicks can play badly here. They may keep carmelo, sit him until trade deadline, just pay him. Maybe don’t get him even to the practices. Then ask him do you still want to use your no trade clause? Things may change then. His trade value will suffer, but they will still get better than ryan anderson.
what do you think will happen?

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantPorzingis and melo should be a playoff team by their self. Maybe they start out hot not having to play the triangle.

cohenbc1ParticipantUnless Melo did something to violate team rules, I think that would blow up in the Knicks’ face. The Players’ Union would get involved, and it would make free agents think twice about New York.

MatosParticipantI don’t think the Players’ Union can step in. Justifiably the Knicks want Melo and his big contract gone but he has a no-trade clause. If they choose to sit someone on their payroll eating up nearly 30mil/yr thats entirely up to them. Melo won’t complain either because he’s getting paid until he inevitably gets traded.
