Carmelo

When his jump shot is falling, he is one of the top-4 scorers in the league...However, he is not nearly as consistent of a scorer as someone such as a Kobe, Lebron and Wade...When his shot is not falling, he is a 20 ppg type of scorer because he is not an elite level athlete nor does he possess an elite (or above for that matter) first step.

Kobe is the best scorer in

Kobe is the best scorer in the league. He has every shot and move in the book. He scored less then Wade and Lebron because he had a lot more talent around him to take shots as well as the fact he played less minutes. If he was in Miami, he would have dropped around 35 like he did a few years ago.

You haven't been impressed

You haven't been impressed with Kobe at all? You are tough to please. He has led the Lakers to the finals 2 years in a row, finished top 2 in mvp both years. Go check how he played in that Denver series this past post season. Games 5 and 6 were two of the best playoff performances of his career.

not a above average first step???..are you serious..hes been listed by his peers as having one of the quickets first steps in the game. and melo doesnt just use his size..he uses that hella of a mid range game as well as first step post moves and size...though kobe is the best scorer in the leauge bar none

Like I Said Before.

Carmelo Anthony Can Score At Any Level With Ease.Kobe is the better overall player but it just comes more natural to Carmelo with his size strength and savy.

Arguably

Melo is arguably the second best scorer in the nba because he scores with such ease n is juss a big strong player, as far as an offensive package he is arguably better at scoring than Lebron because he can stretch the defense consistently, him and wade are 2A. and 2B. as far as just pure scorers IMO. Lebron is a better player than those two are tho.

Will have a longer career

First of all, Melo isn't the best scorer in the NBA (Kobe is) but he has the most polished wing moves I have ever seen. It really isn't even all that close. He doesn't need to dominate the ball ala LeBron James or Dwayne Wade to get his 25 or 30. There isn't another player in the NBA who can score without dribbling like Carmelo (His jab into his shot is ridiculous). Because he is so efficient with his scoring, he will have a much longer career that a LeBron or Wade who take a beating every night out there.

Pure Scorer

I believe Melo is the best pure scorer in this league. He's got a sick mid range game with his jab step. He can step out and hit threes. He'll drive it to the hole, post you up and make free throws. He scores from anywhere on the court. Don't get me wrong now, Kobe is good but if you watch Melo, he does it so effortless. Kobe is the overall better playing but it's almost a coin flip when you talk about Kobe and Melo offensivly. Melo just doesn't put up 65 point games like Kobe but you can expect him to get no less than 20 a night, making him very consistant.

i'd say he rounds out

the top five

1. kobe
2. d wade
3. lebron
4. durant
5. melo

this is scorers def not players. him and durant i would say are interchangable, same with wade and lebron

Kobe is a better scorer than

Kobe is a better scorer than Melo and so is Wade. Here's why:

Kobe can make contested shots, open shots, mid-range game is unbelievable,he finishes anywhere from the rim to the 3 point line with contact. He is a phenomenal finsiher at the rim especially though.

Wade has the ability to make any kind of attempt at the rim. Through contact, at a tricky angle, leaning backwards, forwards, sideways anyway. And he hangs in the air forever to get his shots off. He also scores is elite in the mid-range and he actually can shoot 3's now. He's streaky, but when he gets on a roll making them he can take over the game (he did it in the playoffs against the Hawks twice).

Oh, and Melo has a great 1st step. Its strong and quick at the same time.

Melo is a great scorer

Not better than Kobe,Wade, and Lebron in my opinion. He is a much better shooter than Lebron, but James will get 40 plus just attacking the rim.

Durant is the leagues next great scorer 4 sure.

I think Durant will win the scoring title. I still feel Kobe is more of a threat to go for 65 to 80 on any given night though.

Yea, I do too. Kevin Durant

Yea, I do too. Kevin Durant will be a scoring leader though in the future, him and Perry Jones shows glimpses of that as well.

yeah but we all know you

yeah but we all know you cant always go by stats or tru shooting stats to determine this.. kobe is far and away the best scorer..unlike the other players named he really has zero flaws as a scorer..you name a way for a player to score and he does it

The author of this post

The author of this post received -4 points (probably because he didn't back up his statement lol), but I think this is a legit topic. It all depends what your definition of a "scorer" is.

Dwight Howard averaged 20+ points off of dunks, overpowering his opponents and put backs. Would anybody call him a scorer though? Most people would say no because he doesn't have a complete offensive game. They'd say, "Well... He only dunks and overpowers people. He has no post moves, no jumpshot and is below average at shooting free-throws." Well, how is that fair to Dwight? He averages 20+ points per game and dominates the paint. My point is, it's all based on your definition and perception of what a "scorer" is.

When I watch LeBron or Wade... I don't really see "scorers". I actually see Wade as more of a "scorer" than LeBron, but when I watch them... I see unpredictable athletic freaks of nature who slash and grind their way to the hoop... I see two players who force their physical will on the game in ways Dr. James Naismith wouldn't consider excelling at the game he created. With Kobe and, increasingly, Melo, you get a style of play that says "I am the best at exploiting the natural weaknesses that have existed since the peach basket in Massachusetts and always will exist in our game."

So like I said... It all depends on what your definition of a "scorer" is.
