Caris Levert Is Michigan's Best Player

You can neg me all you want and I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but I think it's obvious. The confidence he exhibits on the court has been great in this game. Playing that combo guard role works really well in this Michigan offense. He needs to be used more. I wrote more about it on my blog so if you want to read that, go ahead.

I agree that he's very

I agree that he's very underrated, but I wouldn't say he's their best player. I think he's third behind Stauskas and McGary. I'm really unimpressed by GR3. He's a great athlete, but can't create his own offense at all. With a minute left in the game he has 6 points and 2 boards. One of his three baskets came off an alley-oop. He's not a great shooter, doesn't create anything for others, and he's going to be smaller than most NBA SF's. I wouldn't pick him in the first round. He's rated high because he's athletic and still only 19, but I really don't think he'll be successful in the NBA.

I don't agree that he's the

I don't agree that he's the best player nor do I think he's the most important player on the team either. I've seen him disappear in games this yr too. What he is though is the best ball-handler on the team. He is the only player who can consistently put pressure on the defense and collapse it off the bounce. Maybe Walton can too eventually since he does have a nice handle and quickness, but he's a noob. LeVert should be the team's primary ball-handler though. IMO they shold be running as much middle PnR with LeVert/McGary as they did with Trey/McGary.

I'd still say that McGary is the best player on the team. The problem with him is that he's still basically in training camp after missing all of the preseason due to his mystery back ailment. He's working his way back in games, but when healthy he is the best playmaker on the team. He's their defensive anchor and best rebounder. He's also the only player on the team who's capable and willing to physically dominate his defender.

GR3 looks like he doesn't realize that more is expected of him He's still playing like a role player...a scared one too. He's passive. He's passing on easier shots for tougher ones. His drives are weak and he's not even trying to take advantage of his athleticism or the new rule changes. If he doesn't change his mentality before the season is over he'll have to come back for his junior year unless he's fine with being a 2nd rounder to possibly undrafted a la Adonis Thomas.

GR3 should have came out of school

He wont gain much this season in terms of draft slot. He only hurt his money staying. The college game will not showcase his game well. He will look better in the L in a more fast pace game.

Nope, as far as I've seen

Nope, as far as I've seen Stauskas has been their best player. Probably McGary's going to be as soon as he gets fully healthy and in shape, but until now Stauskas's been their leader. I didn't see the game last night against Duke, I just saw his boxscore and it wasn't impressive at all, but he was coming back from and injury and he wasn't even supposed to play in the first place. But he's been impressive in his first games, he's improved his game a lot. He was especially terrific in the second half against FSU, after a weak first, he stepped up and led the team to the win. After a freshman year spent as a pure spot up specialist, he's now contributing in many ways, he's going to the line more than 7 times per game, he has added lot of strength to his upper body and he's showing his qualities as a ball handler. I just noticed that sometimes he tends not to move without the ball, waiting for the ball after he passes it. I don't know if that's because he's asked a bigger role as a ball handler this year or it's just a bad habit, but I think it hasn't been that good for the Wolverines.

GR3 prob the most overrated

GR3 prob the most overrated college player this year. He's 6-6 with shoes on, can't create, cant shot, he can jump. You know how many college players who can jump?? Just not that impress with him. And everyone keeps saying, "he's going to do great at the next level" how? He plays SF, he has to guard Bron, Melo, KD, Paul George, etc. he can't guard those dudes.

Levert

He is probably their best player if we go off of last night game only. Thus far #11 Nik S-Has been their best player, his game has expanded a lot from basically being a catch and shoot guy to someone who can shoot it off the bounce and drive a lot more, the additional size and expanded role that he has this year he has not backed down or run away from. I think Nik has a legit shot at being a NBA player when he is done his 4yrs at mich, good size, range etc. In a specialist role. Now to levert, he was their most aggressive, come to play guy last night he showed some really quick/handle related drives last night that I didn't know he had, pictured him as more a cutting/slasher/finisher.He's got great length and can move his feet on D but he is not their best player. SN has anyone found out where GR3 went? That dude is missing, please help. He should have left last yr if he is going to play uninspired ball. His game has not expanded not even his confidence with added shots/responsibility/longer string etc. He is starting to look A.Poy at UK-All athlete but not sure what to do with it.

I thought Mitch should have left last year too, I understand he is injured but I felt like he benefited prob the most from Trey's break down and finish plays. I thought he reached his peak from a draft standpoint being a top15/20 guy. If he came back this year, I thought he had to avg 15/10 and show a back to basket, game to improve his stock calling for the ball in the post more game. He is coming off an injury and I understand but he still looks like a good passing big, who scores off of dump downs, hustle plays. Maybe its too early as he still is working on timing/conditioning etc. Hope to see more from him from a scoring standpoint in the paint, back to basket etc.

I think Stauskas might have a

I think Stauskas might have a shot next year, if he continues playing this way for the rest of this season and shows other improvements and other new things in his game the next one. I saw some boards have already him as a early second rounder this year. Anyways, I was sure he was going to improve a lot, just watching his youtube videos (not necessarily those in which he shoots, but the ones in which he does ball handling drills and other stuff) you can see how much he loves the game and that he has a great work ethic.
