Would anyone beside the gamblers, be interested if they had kentucky and VCU play a cancellation game today? I think it would be an interesting match up and just something to hold us over until Mondays title. Lastly who would come out victorious between the 2? I think Kentucky would ultimately end up winning, but Coach Cal would probably need to play 9 deep instead of his 6 man rotation, boy they looked fatigued at the end of the uconn game. Oh, and another point if Enes Kanter become eligible this season does Kentucky win a NCAA championship? I felt like Josh Harrelson would cancelled it out with his play because Kanter would of takin Harrelson’s minutes thus leaving Josh to not develop.

I don’t understand what was the point of somebody giving you a negative point on that.

It’s not possible to say Kentucky is better without Kanter but if they did have Kanter, would he have slowed down Jared Sullinger like Harrelson did?  Would Kanter have had those big games that Harrelson had in order for them to advance?  I think not.  Harrelson was an important piece in this tourney and I don’t believe they would have made it farther than Kanter instead of Harrelson.  Unless Coach Cal decided to go big and play Harrelson, Kanter, Jones, Liggins, and Knight.

And it’s not cancellation game, it’s consolation.  That’s probably why you got the negative.  Anyway, I’d love to have a consolation game, but then again.. I’d love to see a consolation game in just about every 1 game playoff system.  Much like FIFA and FIBA.  I’d love to see it in the NFL as well.  And maybe a best of 3 series in the NBA and MLB.

I actually don’t he would have taken Josh Harrellson’s minutes. Harrellson plays Center but he’s only 6’9 and he’s more of a 4 then he is a 5. Terrence Jones is very versatile so he could play the 3 just as well as he plays the 4. The lineup would be this: Knight/Lamb/Jones/Harrellson/Kanter. This would take the minutes away from Miller or Liggins. But both are defensive bench players than they are starters. But I’m not quite sure if they would have won the championship. It would have been a very complete team but we already saw two complete teams lose before they reached the Final 4: Duke and North Carolina. This was the year of the one-man teams and the cinderella’s.

I wouldn’t mind watching the consolation game. It’d be fun to watch Kentucky try and stop all the three point shooters that VCU has, but no I don’t think it will happen.

Kanter is not going to be playing college basketball next year. Case closed. He was ruled ineligible because he was considered a pro for getting paid to play basketball. That means he will never have a college career.

Secondly why would KY have to play 9 guys? They haven’t been doing it so I don’t see why that would change. No one says we play 6 all year, but maybe for this one game we are going to play 3 other guys who never touch the floor.

Harrelson could have played at the same time with Kanter or backed him up. The team could have used the depth, but it’s also possible that Cal would have been more likely to kick Harrelson off earlier in the year if he knew he had Kanter to fall back on.

I think it would be a pretty bad idea. These kids play there hearts out to try and win a championship, and while many people would like seeing another match-up between two Final Four teams, I think it would be entirely anti-climactic. Especially if the NCAA title game were to be right afterwards. I think one of the coolest aspects of the NCAA tournament is that you do not get a second chance, that is part of what makes victory so thrilling. Getting to the Final Four is usually seen as a big accomplishment, and having to play another game that would not be for a championship would more than likely, suck.

I understand doing it in the Olympics, you are playing for a medal. Even doing it in Euroleague, where you have teams from all over Europe and are playing for a sense of pride, it makes sense. But, I think it would take away from the NCAA tournament having a consolation game happen. Their was a third place game up until 1981, though, but the tournament has changed a lot since than. I guess as a basketball fan, you always want to see one more game. Still think that this would be a pretty awful idea from the players perspective, after you lose a chance at an NCAA championship, it would be hard to care about finishing 3rd or 4th. Let it be.

As far as Kanter goes, it is difficult to know. I feel a lot of the tournament is based on match-ups, and as many people say, the best teams may not always win. But, this format is so freaking unbelievable and exciting, you usually assume whoever wins it is the best team (I know I do). People that say otherwise usually have extremely sour grapes. With all of this being said though, if Kanter were able to play, maybe Kentucky’s entire season and team dynamic are different. They would more than likely have a different seed and probably be in a different region. With one game meaning everything, you really never know who will win. I do have to say that Kentucky would be a much better regular season team with Kanter, and he would have helped immensely against UCONN and more than likely in their championship chances, but who knows if they would have won. Kansas and Kentucky were both stacked last year, and neither made the Final Four.
