    Houston might have a PROBLEM!!!

Yao missed all of last season..While he was gone Aaron Brooks became team’s best player..

Brooks was named league’s most improved player..

But he’s a shoot 1st point guard..With an unorthodox style..It was rumored that Brooks & Ariza couldn’t get along ..

Was it becuz Brooks doesnt look to pass the ball?

Will Houston run their offense thru Yao?

When he’s healthy is the 2nd best enter in the nba

Houston’s head coach must become very creative creating plays for his 2 best players…Or bring Brooks off the Bench

    Is this a serious question?

I think both can coexist. Brooks averaged 19 and 5 last season. He’s not a great passing lead guard but I think the Rockets can work it out. Yao will come back slow. I wouldn’t be shocked if he averaged 29-32 mpg per game this season. He is not 100% from what I heard. When he becomes 100%, Brooks, Yao and Kevin Martin will be solid together.

I think they can. Brooks still averaged 5 assists a game last season and didn’t have an All-star alongside him last year. I think Brooks will look to pass more and I think his assists will go up but his points down.

They probably didn’t get along because of Ariza’s ego remember he was a key contributer on a championship team before signing with Houston he was over paid and he probably thinks he’s better then he is while Aaron Brooks on the other hand was a first round pick and and the number 2 point guard recruit coming into college(Chris Paul) and a proven starter Ariza felt that there wasnt enough ball with Brooks and Martin in the backcourt not to mention they didnt make the playoffs Brooks had to carry much of the load with Yao out and before Martin arrived this year look for Brooks stats to be closer to 14ppg and about 5 assist houston can make up for his lack of distributing with Rick Adelmans back door cuts and Yao’s passing ability Yao Brooks Martin Battier And Scola thats a good lineup Yao and Brooks will co-exist

IF Yao is healthy, they’ll run the offense through him. I think that’s a given. A Brooks led team is a non-playoff team in the West.

IF Brooks has a problem with it, then they have Lowry on the bench, who they just signed to a 4 yr/$23.46 million deal.

I think it’ll work though… They should have a good inside/outside game with Yao and Brooks/Martin.

Can Yao and Brooks play together? I dont why this is even a question, during the playoffs 2 years ago both of them almost beat the Lakers in a series, and main reason was Yao and Brooks were having their way on that series. They could be the best Center-Point Guard combo in the NBA if Yao returns from his previous form.

ya, its yaos team and the offense will be run through him. thats really all that needs to be said. yao is a max contract guy and brooks is still on his rookie contract and isnt a number 1 option and hes not a number 2. he should be the point guard that can hit shots when needed behind yao and kevin martin.

Yeah, Yao is a 7’6” skilled big man who when healthy is the best true center in the league. Aaron Brooks knows that, and it is Yao’s team, Ariza came in after signing a big contract, while Brooks has played with Yao and Yao was an all-star when Brooks entered the league. With Yao in the post, Kevin Martin and Aaron Brooks can really benefit from open 3 point looks caused by doubles on Yao. Any player on the Rockets who has a problem with Yao being healthy and running the offense should be cut, lol

I think they actually complement eachother very well. Brooks can stretch the floor giving Yao room to operate. He will also be able to use his quickness to penetrate and dish off to Yao for a spot up mid range shot. I aslo suspect that any beef with him Ariza is both overblown, and more Ariza’s fault. Hence, he’s no longer with the team.

I agree plasticpan, and Rick Adelman is a great coach who always seems to get the most out of his squads. I think with a healthy Yao, the Rockets have a pretty good team that can compete in the west.

the pick and roll would be a play i can see them running very often with brooks finishing with floaters or yao with a dunk. and its gonna really spread the floor. everybody will have more oppurtunities when yao gets back. martins scoring may dip a bit but they will be good

They very much can. Seemed to be doing fine when Houston was running through the play-offs in 2008, albeit Yao got injured. I think Aaron Brooks and Yao Ming will work quite well, and if Yao stays healthy, than the Rockets have a chance to compete with almost anyone in the league. You have to remember how well Brooks played against the Lakers, so if they get their, with a healthy team, than expect him to cause problems. I would say, if their was a rift between Aaron Brooks and Trevor Ariza, Houston certainly kept the better of the two for their teams current and future success.

they can,but i don’t think you can use those playoff numbers and make a accurate comparison. It will be an adjustment. I say that because Brooks just spent a entire year doing what he wanted, and besides martin he was viewed as the offense. I think the bigger concerns or questions should be how will Martin fit into the offense with fewer touches with yao’s return, who starts between budinger and batier, how will everyone but yao adjust to being a halfcourt team again, and if they will get enough out of their almost $30million back up point guard

I think Kevin Martin will fit in ok with Yao and Brooks, I live in California and they show plenty of Kings games here, and from watching Martin he is the type of scorer where you don’t have to run a play for him to be a factor, sorta like Antwan Jamison. You give Martin minutes and he will give you 20PPG in so many variety of ways.

course they can! Yao is an inside player and brooks a pretty capable shooter so there should be no problem!

what i don’t get is why every time a team only has one good player everybody says “Hey that guy needs some help!” and when another good player is there to help its always like “they have a problem, those two wont get along with each other!”

i mean what is this about? just lay back and watch a bit….
