can someone answer this question without calling me an idiot?
what is the difference between andray blatche and demarcus cousins? you look at the stats, the attitude and intelligence and I see major similaritys, you look at body build and I see major similaritys, both are athletic bigs who want to run rather than stay inside. I would appreciate an answer without logical fallicys or calling me names please. why if blatche wasnt worth a high draft pick was cousins.
cousins was more of a finished product and was very good in college
cousins went to college and showed what he could do. Blatche came straight out of H.S and hadn't proven what he could do against guys his size. Cousins also likes playing half court basketball( i don't watch the wizards so i dont know what Blatche likes to do although i notice he scores most of his points in the half court)
If cousins came out of H.S he wouldn't have went as high as he did either
unintelligent response. but thanks for the answer providence I appreciate intelligent replys
Cousins is a back to the basket guy, and probably has around 30 pounds on Blatche. Blatche is more athletic and isn't as skilled down low and will play on the perimeter much more often.
Cousins & Blatche both have a soft touch for big men and can be versatile ..
When Blatche came out of high school he had a slender frame...Scouts loved his game but felt he would never reach his potential...
now to my other question why is everyone so high on cousins potential when we have seen what he has to offer I dont see him as having a high growth potential most athletes with bad attitudes dont change much.
and when you put those ten pounds on a 6 11 frame it doesnt make a huge difference.
Blatche plays a lot more selfish than Cousins. You can say Cousins is immature and has anger issues, but he isn't selfish.
Cousins was worth a higher pick because he was much more complete than Blatche was entering the draft. He already had a complete skill-set and a polished post game. It took Blatche several years before he started producing like he did.
I'm not fans of either, but there is no argument about which of them was the better prospect in the draft.
on cousins potential, how do you think he is going to change his game to become a better player? and do you even think he has the desire to work on his game or do you agree that what you see is what your going to get. also please remember jason thompson had a very solid rookie year and he has actually regressed.
Because cousins is very skilled
"yeah thats right i'm back"
14.6 ppg and 8.6 reb as a rookie speaks volumes especially with all the problems he has off the court. Once he gets his head on straight and plays to the best of his abilities he could be a 20 and 10 guy compared to a 6 year vet who only has marginally better stats. It is clear who is a more complete player, Also both players have their own different styles, Blatche is more a four with the ability to face up and Cousins plays much more with his back to the basket and is an unselfish player with great passing ability for a big man.
Cousins has a wider body but they do have similiar part to their game but Cousins going to college where he had to play down have helped him a lot.
What makes you think he won't? He seems passionate about winning.
I'm one of Cousins' biggest skeptics on the site. I doubt his maturity issues ever get any better and I -- personally -- wouldn't build my team around a player who constantly had to be catered to. However, his ability cannot be questioned. I sincerely doubt he "regresses" or plateaus after only one year.
The man seems like a future all-star to me.
Also even if he had a bad rookie year which he didnt. if you judged Deron Williams or Jermaine Oneal after their rookie years they grealty struggled and now they both are former all stars the sky is the limit for Cousins and I disagree Nomoney I think Cousins is a legit franchise player maybe not a first option but a second option on a contender for the championship
Adding anything else, would be pointless. I'm going to agree with No money here and say that its a big possibility his personality will continue to contribute to being problematic through his career. But you can't doubt the man wants to win. He's always apologetic about his behaviour problems, is unselfish with the ball, and shows that he wants to improve.
Blatche has been the league for a while he still hasn't grown up as a player and as a person. Cousins is a rookie, and his immaturity is no where near as extreme as Blatche.
As of now, I see Cousins as a Zach Randolph(before memphis), Al Jefferson kind of guy. He'll get his points, his rebounds, great post moves, but he will do it at a low efficiency and won't play any defense. He doesn't help his team to win games as much as he can. He is taller and has much more potential, but he still has much to improve in his game.
About his ceiling, I don't see him as a championship winning franchise player, but very few are, so that's not too bad for him. He can be the best guy on a bad team or a great second guy, but only if he improves on D.
As for Blatche, I don't see the comparison. Their bodies and games are very different. I like Blatche, he's very skiled and has great athleticism. He's fun to watch, because he'll make some good plays and take some shots that are so bad it's funny.
I dont really see a close similarity between the two. Cousins is far better and at a younger level too. Hes more of a post scorer than Blatche and blatche shoots it more from mid range than cousins. Both are immature and dont really play d but its pretty clear that Cousins is much more valubale than blatche. Blatche hurts his team more than cousins does.
Jayneens. Ah Put Dis Team On Mah Back!
I can definitely see some similarities. Many people say they lack maturity and qestion there work ethic, and they both kind of play the same way. They're both very skilled, but they often settle for jumpshots too much.
Dray is the real deal. His problem is he missed the whole offseason with a broken foot so he came back rusty & out of shape. Then because of him being rusty & out of shape, he kept getting injuries all year. He was playing hurt and crappy. Before the last time he got hurt, he had 3 straight 20pt games for the first time all year because he was finally getting healthy & in shape. Then in the next game he had 3reb's & 2ast very early in the 1st until he sprained his shoulder. He missed like 2 weeks, came back against the Heat and had 14 & 8 in that game and then these last 2 games where he next 2.
He's just finally healthy but he's still nowhere near basketball shape.I predicted that he would be a beast this year and McGee next year. Because of the injuries he wasnt but you can see how good he is and if he's healthy next year then he will be very good while McGee is finally getting it towards the end of this year. He looks much better on Offense now and he will look alot better next year. They will be a dangerous frontcourt and they have a good young 3 headed backcourt with Wall, NY, and Crawford. I could see them jumping to the playoffs next year.
But I think the reasons Cousins gets more of a pass than Blatche is because he's only a rookie, and Blatche is in his 6th year.
dude cousins potential in last years draft is almost if not more then wall's when you see cousins doing his post moves and the way he moves about the court he is seems very frail and stiff when he gets those muscles to pop out and cut his body fat he will be a beast
his hands are webber like if you actually watch any of the games if cousins stays on track he can average easily 23ppg 12 rbg 5 apg people say it all the time the only one that will stunt his growth is cousins himself
he will own smaller players and he will blow by bigger ones
only way to put this is you must be an idiot...
don't be a hater, 13kavak. When you ask people not to call you an idiot, pretty much the opposite is going to happen. Happens a lot on these forums. I've done it too, but you'll learn.
Cousins is different than Blatche because Cousins just wants to win very badly and that's he has such a bad attitude. But with the right coach that can be tamed. Blatche on the other hand "is a player with a lot of talent but no brains" (Some one this forum said that, but I can't remember who, but I liked it) Hard to coach a player with no brains.
If you don't see why Cousins is so good, than watch him play, ignore all his antics, just watch his talent and I think you'll see why we all believe he is quite a player.
So much for being intelligent, it's "replies". (:
I'm a grammar nerd.
damn idiots and their spelling of similarities.....
Friggin' homonyms, bro! Get on my nerves!
i think there are some things you can compare between the two because i think they are both headcases in their own way.
but i think comparing cousins to zach randolph is a better fit. randolph had off court issues just like cousins i think their game is similar. cousins i think at one point will get the same numbers the question is if he will make his team really really good or not cause i think that was why z-bo was never one of the elite superstars although he had superstar numbers...
I like the Cousins and Chris Webber comparison because he has the skill to be that but he is bigger than Webber was and should live in the post but he can dribble and pass pretty well. I remember when Blatche first came in and he tried to be like the younger Garnett and take people off the dribble and do crazy passes. He seemed more like a small forward then. Cousins needs to mix his inside and outside game up and I think with maturity and experience that will happen.
He is young and most young players need to grow in that area but Cousins is a big man so he gets a lot more attention than smaller players who have had similiar problems.
Also I would gladly take 20 points and 10 rebound and 1.5 block from a low basketball IQ player. There have been so called smart NBA players that could not average half of this and other dumb players who were out of the league in 2 to 3 years.
