Can Jahii Carson be a lottery pick?
He can but in retrospect he'll have to have a player of the year type of year, especially in this draft. If he's the face of a top ten team or better (Trey Burke, Kemba Walker, Ty Lawson) then it's likely, but the top fourteen looks like it'll have players with a much higher ceiling.
lmao...
Carson is talented no doubt, athletic, explosive, sees the court, can create for himself and others, great 1st step and he's fearless...He's a poor man's Allen Iverson..He needs work on extending his range..I see him going 20s to early 2nd....
We are talking about Jahii Carson right. The 5'9 PG lol? I'm not sure if he can make it lottery but if he does have success I can say 1st rounder obviously. With guys like Nate Robinson, Ty Lawson and Isaiah Thomas having success at their size GMs have to be looking at him and not being scared to take a little guy.
I love his mentality on the court. He looks like a real leader on the court and steps it up when it counts. He is not a good defender and will likely always be a liability on that end and he can get bottled up in the lane, but if he develops a consistent jump shot he could definitely be a lottery pick if this year's pg class doesn't turn out to be too strong. His ability to attack the rim is very reminiscent of Ty Lawson and Will Bynum, so there is a template for players with his style succeeding in the NBA, but he is even smaller than Lawson.
Lottery might be a stretch, but i do think he will go in the first round. You see some very small guards nowadays who have carved out solid NBA careers as role players such as Nate Robinson, Will Bynum, Isaiah Thomas (Kings) and Earl Boykins to name a few. I don't think he quite has the strength any of these guys have though, but he has the quickness and scoring ability to make an immediate impact.
For all the Talent that he possesses I still don't think he will be a Lottery selection. I'm a big time Jahii fan. Been a fan sense he was a rising junior but I don't think he will be chosen with the first 14 picks unless he has a super year. A Kemba Walker like type of year.I do think he will be a first rounder though.
im a big jahii fan. I think he is hands down the favorite to win the pac 12 poy award. WIth that said, I highly doubt he is lottery level. I wouldn't be surprised if he went second round. Right now I would guess late first.
He is quick and athletic and very skilled. But he is also small and his outside shot is nothing special as of last season at least unless he improved it. Plus he has kind of a slow release that he starts from the waist whci makes it that much easier to block on top of the fact he is 5-10.
Regardless of his pro ptetnial, the guy is stud and if people don't know who he is now, they better start paying attention. It will be difficult because Arizona st will not be a very good team and he wont get into the tourney and he wont get a lot of opportunities to show off nationally. But it doesn't take away from how good he is. Possible first team all-American. I think 22pts...6apg...5rpg is very realistic.
Can Jahii Carson be a lottery pick in the loaded 2014 draft? Everyone will point to his size and say no, but he's about the same size as Ty Lawson and Carson is an elite athlete and speed. He's also not much smaller than Trey Burke. Carson might have been the most underrated point guard in the country last season and could be the favorite for PAC 12 POY.
That said how many point guards will crack the lottery? Andrew Harrison and Marcus Smart r locks, so is exum if u have him as a pg. Semaj Christion and Kasey Hill also have the potential. Who has the most potential?
