I can’t believe no one has made a topic about this yet, so I will.

I don’t follow HS prospects nearly as well as I used to. I usually don’t know much about them until college. What I have heard is that Caleb is a bit undersized but tough as nails. He sounds like the EXACT player who grows and flurishes under Tom Izzo.

So does anyone know why he backed out of his verbal to MSU? Any idea where he is going?

His legal guardian has connections to Purdue and wants him to play there. Cal and Kentucky are also recruiting hard and were two top options before he committed to Michigan St.

because Purdue might not be the best place to show case your talents. Their best player is 7 ft senior who plays your position.

And even with those two together (caleb at the 4 or something) I still don’t see them making the tourny.

ive been to quite a few big 10 campus’s, and i can honestly say, purdue has the worst ive ever seen. MSU has among the best..

cant believe he’d choose west lafayette over EL..

I read that the reason he decommitted is beacause they wanted him to play center at Michigan St. and he really wants to play PF. He is more suited for the PF position, but could play it in college.

if that’s true then it shows just how clueless he and his team are. michigan st has guys on their roster capable of defending opposing Cs.  if his team was worried about defending the "plethora" of legit college Cs, then that screams softness.  just because a player plays C in college doesnt mean that he will be evaluated as a C for the next level. i would say the majority of great PFs in the nba played C in college in some capacity because there simply arent that many good big men to go around at the college level.

if he goes to cal or UK then he and his team are hypocrites and liars since he’d be playing C there too. if he goes to purdue, who appears to be the favorite, good luck finding space to operate with half their 7′ tandem. nba teams try to avoid combining bigs who like to operate in the same area for obvious spacing purposes.  spacing is at even more of a premium in college bc of the shorter 3 ball and no illegal defenses. hammons can step away a bit, but is just OK from mid. haas on the other hand will own the interior when he’s in the game. for a year he’s going to have to compete for touches with both.  there’s a chance that haas could break out and be a 2 year guy, but i doubt it.  imo, biggy made a bad choice. michigan state was perfect for him.

I’m surprised that such a conversation wouldnt have occurred when Izzo was recruiting him. And with that in mind, at Michigan State there wouldnt be much difference to what position he’s playing. He’s gonna get an opportunity to take fifteen footers and have post touches either way. Positions are abritrary at this point.

It has to do with the signing of Nick Ward of the 2016 class.  Swangian understands he is not a 1 and done talent.  Come next year it will Schilling, Caleb and Davis as the bigs on the roster.  Because of his size he has to play C.

I’m sorry but this kid screams pansy.  If he is worried about playing center then what a retard.  Look at Payne, Dawson, Dray Green.  All players that excelled at playing out of position.  I’m so happy they arent getting this kid anymore.  Izzo was interviewed on campus after this and said "The Final Four has given us such a recruiting boost that its whatever."  Meaning next in line.

This has to ultimately lead to Johnathan Williams transferring over and even better top prospects signed in the 2016 class.  Winston and Josh Jackson are being heavily recruited by Izzo on top of adding Williams 2016 will be the big year of this group.  Sucks Denzel doesnt get another chance with high expectations.

There was a lot of talk of him being a package deal with Rabb & Jaylen Brown. He committed first & stunned some people (including Izzo) by choosing Michigan St. Now that both the other guys signed with Cal, that I’m sure that’s an option.

Purdue is being talked about a lot too now with connection to his legal guardian as well. I would think it’s between those 2 to get him.

Cal would be nice if he teams up with Rabb and Brown. Purdue has big Issac Haas and Aj, would be a dominate front line
