festar35ParticipantSo Indiana just declined Lance Stephenson’s $4.3mil contract which is baffling given what he brings/means to the franchise, but Pritchard may be hunting more shooting. (Rumor is targeting – Tyreke Evans & Will Barton, personally want Hezonja)
Where do you think Lance goes/fits? I hope it ain’t like the first time he left for him.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI’m shocked . . .
I expected the Pacers to decline the option on Joe Young ($1.6 million) and maybe do something with Al Jefferson ($10 million contract only guaranteed for $4 million), but not this.
Lance is a fan favorite. Not only that, he played well for the Pacers in a reserve role. I’m surprised and kind of scratching my head a little.

festar35ParticipantI hoped, but didn’t expect Indiana to do much this off-season…this changes my outlook and now I got no idea.

HobbyOGParticipantCould they decline to give him a 3 year offer or something? Just curious, seems like he wants to be there, the fans love him and he’s a piece they need.

cominup7Participantbut this might be Lance’s last rodeo in the NBA, in a meaningful role at least. He was already working his way out of the league before he (luckily) landed back in Indy. There’s just too many players with his talent level who don’t bring the other issues, whether real or perceived, that Lance would bring. Plus outside of that he’s a wing who still can’t shoot and is ball dominant

IndianaBasketballParticipantIt’s really confusing. Based on his impact, etc he was worth way more than $4.36 million. That’s nothing.
I’m starting to see the reports that the Pacers are interested in Barton and Evans. Personally, I don’t think Evans is that much better than Lance and I’m pretty sure his price tag will be more than $4.36 million.

RUDEBOY-ParticipantI read it’s part of moves they’ll trying to make to reach 20 million in cap space. Waiving Jefferson could be next. Joseph optioned in , they just drafted Holiday and D.C. Is on the roster, they’re stacked at PG.But Lance was BORN to be a Pacer. He gave them an Attitude. And he played on a rather cheap deal. Lance has played in Charlotte, Memphis. But Lance isn’t Lance on another team but Pacers!!!

Lotto StudParticipantI would love for him to go home! Things are finally shaping up for the Nets to turn the roster around, and what’s needed is his passion for the game, which has been missing ever since Kenyon Martin was the enforcer.

festar35ParticipantI really hope we don’t see him out of the league, although he could be Marbury 2.0 in China which he would no doubt love.
I hope Indiana is just clearing some early cap space to go sign a key guy then look to bring Lance back in on something like 2yr-$10mil with 3rd year option – it may not seem like a great contract for Lance but he gets paid a little more, its longer term and he doesnt really have a lot of leverage. Indiana would still be a long wah from the luxury tax.

BallCity1ParticipantMan I hope he goes to Cleveland! If that doesn’t entice LeBron to stay then I don’t know what will

OhCanada-ParticipantLance Stephenson took on a leadership role for the Indiana Pacers this year which may seem to be a positive thing from the outside in but I mean this is Lance were talking about. You really want him as the leader of your team? I couldnt even imagine how I would react to Lance Stephenson giving me a pep talk at halftime.

cohenbc1ParticipantI think he could be great on the Warriors, especially if they lose McCaw and Nick Young in free agency. They could have really used him when Iguodala was out in that Houston series!
He’d have to accept a vet’s minimum deal though, I imagine.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantHe is the point guard the magic can build around!!!

The GoatParticipantYou have to think he is worth the drama for 4mil. Must be clearing space. Enough for PG to come back? If they have, im sure Indy will enquire.

invalidParticipantbe the man in the knicks lol

festar35ParticipantThe only explanation I can come up with is Indiana want more 3-pt shooting & Lance’s % isn’t anywhere near what they want.

HitsterParticipantLance has always placed his best ball with the Pacers and his contract seemed good value, surely they could have flipped it for something if they wanted to move him on. But we don’t know the exact wording on his deal plus this is Pritchard, Bird, Walsh and co probably making the decision so we cannot really argue with them.
Lance went from being a "don’t touch troublemaker" to being a good intangibles guy during his first run with Pacers but then things went wrong until he returned to the Pacers.
He does play with intensity so could a contender look at him for vet minimum and they’d have a strong coaching team – locker room leaders to keep him in line.
