This Butler v. Pitt game is SERIOUS
One of my pet peeves is choosing 4 #1's in your bracket. It has only happened ONCE, and I always at least try to choose a non 1. I am actually ashamed to say, I chose 3 #1's, but not Pitt. I have Pitt going to the 8 I believe, but this would be epic. Brad Stevens is killing it with Butler, but his players get the real credit. Shelvin Mack is a legit prospect, no wonder he was getting all this praise over the summer, he is fearless. Howard is tough as heck, I am sure he will get looks somewhere. Smith has some potential, but man has this team made the NCAA tournament fun the past two years.
Are people watching this? My lord! Why would you foul, and than, WHY WOULD YOU FOUL? Andrew Smith, Gilbert Brown, and now Matt Howard to potentially ice the game with .8 left!
Unbelievable.
I feel sooo so bad for that kid. That just changed his life, he may never recover lol. I wanna hear from MDymes after that performance.
All of the above?
i watched gilbert brown after he missed the free throw walk towards the bench and i read his lips. "F*CK ME!" was what i garnered
Poor guy. We as fans love to see these crazy endings, but as a person you really can't feel bad enough for guys who make a mistake in the cltuch like that on a National stage.
I need to give props to Brad Stevens for saying he feels bad for Pittsburgh, class act. Brad Stevens isn't leaving Butler unless someone offered him like $8mil a year, but I don't see him leaving Butler. He has the goal of winning a national championship their, and I think he will one day.
Anyone else get the feeling that like in 30-40 years Brad Stevens is going to be one of the NCAA coaching legends?
yupyup, I feel like Brad Stevens is already a legend, but realistically in 10 years we'll be saying this guy is a coaching legend. I actually consider him the best in game coach behind coach K right now in college basketball.
I agree he may be the best right now. But it takes more then a few years to become a legend. Anyone see the play they had to take the lead before the 2 fouls occurred? It was beautiful. The dude is amazing.
Brad Stevens has to be atop EVERY HC opening now.
He probably got the best school in Indiana too, and that's saying something. Will be interesting if he can pull some more recruits in the next 2-3 years.
It's still realistic Butler can make the final four this year right?
Brad Stevens is not leaving Butler, it would take more than a lot of money, and it won't happen.
Also, he is a lot like Gary Williams he isn't getting the top top guys, but he is getting guys that fit his system, and will win.
Butler is going to the final four that was teh toughest game they had to play.
If a big enough job opens up for Stevens, I could see him leaving. I don't think any jobs will open up this year, maybe next season, you never really know.
True about the talent, but he does need some NBA talent. Let's not act as if you win without it. I think he can pull some nice 3 star, maybe even some 4 star guys in Indy
I still feel Florida can contend with them
The UNDERDOG LIVES ON. I didn't think Butler would beat Pitt either but Brad Stevens is quite a coach.
Phenomenal game and crazy finish.
Can't believe a team who lost to Evansville, Milwaukee twice, Wright State, Valpo, and Youngstown State this year just beat Pitt.
Yea, but I don't Tennessee is big enough. I think if Stevens leaves Butler, he needs to go somewhere he knows he can bring in talent.
I think UConn is a perfect place for him.
BK, Brad Stevens is not leaving the midwest, let alone the state of Indiana. I think their is only one other job he takes outside of Butler, and that is Indiana. If Tom Crean can't get the job done in the next 2 years they will give Brad Stevens and offer he can't refuse. Also, Stevens is going to get NBA Talent, not guys that you would think are NBA right off the bat, but in 2 years we'll be talking about them as NBA players. No one thought Gordon Hayward was going to be an NBA player two years ago, no one probably knew him before he played a game at Butler, same goes for Shelvin Mack. I have no worries about Brad Stevens getting the talent necessary to compete at a high level.
If UConn were to offer Coach Stevens, I think he'd HAVE to take that. I don't see why not, unless they get left with a bunch of sanctions and stuff when Coach Calhoun leaves. That'd be the only logical reason to me.
I am a little to emotional to fully comment on this game, but I will say this...
There is a reason why I have never picked PITT to get to the Final Four and it is showing's like this that prove my reasoning. SOOOO PISSED RIGHT NOW.
Maybe next year we will have a shot by finally landing a top recruit (outside of Blair) in Khem Birch. But again, our guard play is going to suffer, which, imo, is the key to success at the college level.
Yah Khem Birch is going to have a very limited impact in his freshman year.

Not to rip you, but that's so narrow minded. Honestly, Stevens is a great coach and eventually, he might become bigger then Butler. I already believe Butler as well as Stevens are the best coach school-coach tandem in Indiana, but quietly Indiana is getting recruits. In a weak Big 10, Indiana could be respectable next season.
Also, I'm not saying he will leave this offseason, I think if a school like Louisville or UConn opens up and throws him a great deal, I would not be shocked if he accepted it. I would be shocked if he declined it.

Shelvin Mack is straight beastin it with 27. Andrew Smith and Matt Howard are both tough, though Smith missed a few opportunities.
8.9 left, 69-68 Pitt. Will we see our first 1 seed go down?
