The Bulls intend to compete, while the Knicks need to rebuild. I think it’d be in the interest of both teams to make a deal that sends Carmelo Anthony, Jose Calderon, Iman Shumpert and Quincy Acy to the Bulls for Derrick Rose’s contract, Doug McDermott, Nikola Mirotic and Jimmy Butler.

The Bulls get their top target from this past offseason, Carmelo Anthony, while ridding themselves of Derrick Rose’s awful contract. At PG they are already pretty good but a guy lile Jose Calderon, who is good friends with Pau Gasol, could help to soldify it as a starter. Iman Shumpert is a downgrade from Jimmy Butler but he seems to have really turned the corner offensively this season and has always been recognized as one of the better defensive players in the league.

The Knicks meanwhile position themselves to better tank this offseason and jump start their rebuilding process with some young pieces in McDermitt, Mirotic and Butler. They’d be stuck with this generation’s Anfernee Hardaway and his massive contract but that is a small price to pay for the infusion of youth they’d get, as well as the opportunity to draft Jahlil Okafor.

    Thoughts?
