I saw that the only likely lottery pick that the Memphis Grizzlies have planned a workout with is Wendell Carter Jr and there are already talks of them trading the pick.

Another rumour going around is that a lot of teams are keen on Michael Porter Jr with belief that he has the talent to be a top 3 player in this class. We all know that Porter Jr is someone the Bulls are keen on and they are the only team that have scheduled an individual workout with him (others have just got meetings and staff viewing his pro-day). This means that Chicago may have to move up for him

This made me think about a pick swap between these two so they can be more in their range to select these players.

    Memphis Gets:
    – Pick #7 (Wendell Carter Jr)
    – Kris Dunn or Bobby Portis or Both

Memphis could also receive one (or both) of the Bulls’ young players in Bobby Portis or Kris Dunn. Bobby Portis has been in trade talks since he let loose and bashed his own team mate and reports are out that the Bulls are not impressed with Dunn’s work ethic surprisingly.

    Memphis’ Depth Chart:
PG – Mike Conley | Kris Dunn, Andrew Harrison
SG – Dillon Brooks | Ben McLemore, Wayne Selden
    SF – Chandler Parsons |
PF – Wendell Carter Jr | JaMychal Green, Jarell Martin, Ivan Rabb
C – Marc Gasol | Bobby Portis, Deyonta Davis

    Memphis’ Young Core:
    – Wendell Carter Jr, Ivan Rabb, Deyonta Davis, Jarell Martin
    – Probable second round picks (based off of workouts): Josh Okogie, Trevon Duval, Jevon Carter
    – Dillon Brooks, Wayne Selden, Andrew Harrison
    – Kris Dunn and/or Bobby Portis depending on trade

    Chicago Gets:
    – Pick #4 (Michael Porter Jr)

    Chicago’s Depth Chart:
PG – Jerian Grant | Cameron Payne (Dunn depending on Trade)
SG – Zach LaVine | Denzel Valentine, Antonio Blakeney
SF – Michael Porter Jr | Justin Holiday, Paul Zipser
PF – Lauri Markkanen | Noah Vonleh (assuming he resigins) (Portis depending on trade)
C – Robin Lopez | Cristiano Felicio, Omer Asik

    Chicago’s Young Core:
    – Michael Porter Jr, Lauri Markkanen, Cristano Felicio
    – Zach LaVine, Jerian Grant, Cameron Payne, Antonio Blakeney, Paul Zipser, Denzel Valentine
    – Kris Dunn or Bobby Portis depending on trade

Hate it for Chicago. Stay at 7 and take BPA and keep the Dunn/Lavine backcourt together.

Not only that, but Porter is not a 3 in the NBA. He’s gonna need to lift and eat and be a stretch 4, and the Bulls have that in Markannen.

I’m not opposed to that trade at all as a Bulls fan, however I would keep Kris Dunn. In the minimal games we had a healthy roster last year, before the real “tank” began, he looked really well.

On the other hand, if all it will take is Portis and #7 this year to move up to #4 and grab MPJ, I’m all for that. Even if it was to move up to draft Bamba too, since it seems like he’s shot up from top 10 to top 3. MPJ and Bamba are 1a and 1b in terms of ideal draft scenarios for the Bulls this year imo.

Bottom line though, I want to keep the Dunn/LaVine backcourt at least for one more full season, while addressing Lopez’s eventual replacement or the SF hole we’ve had really since Pippen. Although Deng was serviceable and key to the early 2010’s runs, he wasn’t top 50 Greatest material.

This is one of those what is his actual health level?

If he has a major concern in that back I could see Porter sliding anywhere from 3-12 range..

It could also depend on if he is willing to do workouts-No workouts could see him sliding..

So in the Bulls case if they were to trade up I could see it taking one of 3 things-

Current pick and young prospect for top 3-6 pick

They absorb an average deal for example they could say-we will absorb Parsons deal + 4 the pick for Cheaper deal(save the grizz money for tax or to go get some more pieces)+ 7

    or

7th pick and future pick for 4th and average deal.

Me personally I don’t know if the bulls should do the move  unless they believe that Lauri is a Centre not PF or Porter could play SF not PF if he isn’t as they could trade this pick for actual need if there was someone crazy enough to trade up-E.G suns T.J warren for the pick + 16th+future protected pick and they draft Trae young(who they are apparently high on) if he slides past 6th overall.

The Bulls are picking in a fairly nice position, it’s not like they are in top 3 or 5 and have choice of several guys. They will have the guys ranked in order and if that person goes, they just then go to next person etc.

They seem keen on Mikal Bridges who would be a natural fit and the sort of complimentary intangibles guy who could help the team improve. Porter would also be a nice fit and I think they take a good look at Carter too. Robin Lopez is going into the last year of his deal and both Portis and Markkanen will need future support in the frontcourt.

Calling Felicio part of the young core made me cringe
