They are really deep. They got Parker and Lopez coming off the bench with Markannen injured. Portis is starting right now likely as an attempt to build his trade value. Parker didnt slim down so any thought of him thriving at SF is unlikely. They have issues with gaurd depth but Blakeney is a strong candidate to fill a meaningfull role off the bench. Also Justin Holiday and Denzel Valentine have alot to prove as the teams wings but overall that frontcourt is oing to be an issue along with the starting gaurds Dunn and Lavine.

I see this team being no worse than .500 this year. I dont think they can possible tank they just have too much talent and will end up with a late lottery pick at best.

    Wow, that’s.. very optimistic?

They’re one of the youngest teams in the NBA. Their best player Markkanen is still technically a rookie, and is injured. It tells you a lot. They don’t have a plus defender on the team. They probably don’t have a top 100 player on the team at this point. They will be no better than 25th in DRTG, and if they are not rock  bottom in that category it’s just because there’s 5 or 6 more teams that are really lousy.

I’d say that if they get to high twenties in wins in the east, it’s a winning season for them. Just don’t know where’d you get this sort of optimism from. I’ll be rooting for them because some of their young guys are very likable, but come on. Think Brooklyn and Cleveland are clear cut above them and that says a lot.

Wendell Carter must have had a good pre-season to have got the starting birth already unless they figure Lopez won’t be there after this season whatever happens so get the young guy starting from day 1.

Unless I’m wrong, pretty sure Lopez is still the starter. Although it should be Carter Jr. no question.

I think they’ll win around 33-35 games. Compete for the 9th or 10th spot. Still need a good floor general and  too many liabilites on defense. They’ll have some great wins and then turn around and have some bad losses.

They have to try, because decisions have to be made on contracts. They have to make one on Jabari Parker, as they can get out of it next summer if he doesn’t work, have to figure out Portis (eligible for an extension or is restricted next summer, and it appears more likely he becomes a restricted free agent) and Kris Dunn is eligible for an extension next summer. Only a fool would think they should fly blind into those decisions to maybe draft Sekou Doumbouya. If the Parker at the 3 experiment fails, and early returns have not been good, then they cannot carry an expensive Parker and an expensive Portis with an overpaid Felicio still on the roster. Even with what will still be rookie contracts years left with Markkanen and Carter, it would be problematic. The most likely scenario is that they have some success this year, but it becomes clear that they need a two-way wing. They could go about it in a mid-season trade (Jonathan Simmons, Harrison Barnes, Taurean Prince, Trevor Ariza, etc), or wait until free agency (most likely Khris Middleton, though the rom-com reunion with Jimmy Butler that also serves as being the last straw before Minnesota relocates to Seattle is not outside the realm of possibilities). Of course, the urgency to get a wing who could defend Giannis, Kawhi, Simmons, Batum, Oladipo, and Tatum would have been lessened had they kept Nwaba for what is an NBA pittance, but nobody claimed the Bulls rebuild was without its mistakes.

Yes, the deadline is this evening. Like I said, I think they wait because it makes much more sense to wait, but there is a history with the Bulls doing these things at the last minute.

    No they aren’t deep.

    No they aren’t tanking…ATM

    No they they aren’t a 41 wins team…at all.

They will be weak defensively and you can’t be optimistic on their offense either(dead last in FG % last season), more Lavine, Parker and rookies ain’t solving team deficiencies, they’re not 11-13 deep like you’re pretending, watch the scrubs on the bench.

To me they are kinda the kings of the east this season, i like their draft tho, and Markkanen was a great pick last season.

Lots of bigs under contract(7), no nba SF, anonymous nba guards(no building block) and they stole "kings moves", 20MD per for Lavine, the Parker experiment, but they are in the east, you’re not punished as severely for your actions.

A lot of "losers", no leadership, no vets, when Robin Lopez and Justin Holiday are your experienced guys, kids are in good hands ?….

The cultural thing, they simply have no identity(there’s losing teams with an identity).

    Oh and Hoiberg is gone.

Their season is pretty clear to me, they’ll do what they can until january, february, then they will trade players or buy out most of their expiring….

Last 30 games full tank mode, Carter showing he is a better player than Bagley, Hutchinson having a shot, when justin holiday is attempting 11 FGA for your team, you’re going nowhere, a bunch of d-leaguers filling the roster.

If they win 30 games, if they’re not in the worst 5, it’s a great accomplishment.

Maybe i’m too low on them, but you’re definitely too high !!!

Some good points in there. Pretty hard to argue with.

Robin Lopez is a clown.he was a blazers for a few years and was most famous for fighting mascots. on a separate note, the bulls are no where near as bad as the kings. that’s laughable. I could see them finishing anywhere from 6th-10th in the weak a$$ east

I think RJ Barrett will be a Bull. That tells you all you need to know.

I think they look better on paper than what they will achieve.

Heaps of new faces, will take time to figure each other out.  They have some decent talent – Dunn, LaVine, Markannen, Jabari Parker.

Not sure about Wendell Carter jnr, maybe Kevin Knox should of been the selection.

Prob win 30 to 35 games and get another lotto pick.  If Lavine and Parker can be healthy they could look at 500 and a playoff birth in 19-20 season.

Its a 35 win team if all available rotation players remain healthy. They’ll win 30.

I wasnt a Carter Jnr fan but I saw something in preseason that I think that win make him effective with Markannen. I think Portis can actually play and deserves more time except that he’s third on the depth chart behind the only two decent players the Bulls have. Also, too bad his career highlight to date is fighting a teammate.

I have little time for the rest of them. Jabari had tremendous promise two injuries ago but he needed to become a super fit 3 man to become an NBA success for mine. Thats all over. Dunn has some ability but he’s a career backup for mine. I have no time for Lavine who may be the worst defender in the league. He would have a hard time defending in China. Lopez is good for getting on Shaqtin more than anything else. You would give away the rest if you knew you could get something for them.

How could you not be a Carter Jr fan? Really need some explanation for that.

I don’t want to put a number on the amount of wins they will have but will put it more like this:

They have accumulated some good young talent so could take an OKC second season like jump..

Hoiberg will get his second year coaching his team(no holdovers from Thibs team) so he is on his second last chance in my opinion…If there is no progression this season in terms of wins you put him on the hot seat and then at the end of next season you fire him…

If they beat last seasons wins and they are developing alright then you give him that brett brown shot…By this I mean he could be one player away from having them in the playoff hunt again..

Their roster looks ok in my opinion:I quite like Dunn was hoping Thibs was going to use this guy right as I see a young version of John wall in him,Lavine has range and hops but the guy needs to get it on the defensive end, Carter could be nice reminds me a little of AL Horford may not blow you away this year but he will do the right play..Lauri M is the key if  he hit his ceiling of Dirk would be great but his floor could be a Brook Lopez type player so you have .. what else they go with though will be the question.

I’d not see the Bulls as a play off team but they should improve on last year’s 27 wins as the younger core is a year older and Lavine has had another summer and a full pre-season. But anything over 35 wins would be a big over achievement.

The decision to put Parker with the 2s is probably helpful early on while Markkanen is out. If they can also find a way to work their subsitution pattern so that LaVine or Dunn are out there as opposed to Payne, then they should be able to score consistently throughout games. I just really wonder why it has not been asked as to why they let Nwaba leave for so little money. He was the perfect 5th option defensive wing for this group, and it is one of most obvious problems facing any team. To give LaVine and Parker big money, and not invest in a guy who can cover for their shortcomings makes no sense to me.

Justin Holiday is trashhhhhhhhhh. Oh and Hutchinson’s shooting form is one of the worst in the league, it’s atrocious. They need to tank for an SF next draft. Barrett or Reddish will be godsends.
