Many of us were wowing when Murray reportedly knocked down 79/100 threes in front of the Celtics. Well, now, according to reports, Buddy Hield drained 85/100 triples in his workout with the Celtics. 85!

Does this complicate the #3 pick situation for the Celtics? Do they still trade the pick like many thought they would, or do you now think they draft Murray or Hield instead? Thoughts?

If they can get a proven player then you still trade the pick. I read that the Timberwolves were going after Butler with thier pick, If I were the Celtics I would go after Butler and maybe some picks for the 3rd pick.

The Celtics are so stocked at the guard spots the only way I imagine they don’t try to trade the pick is if they believe one of the drafts guards have absolute star potential.

That is substantial. Some worry about Hield being Jimmer Freddtte, but I think he’s quicker and more offensively versatile. He is, right?

I can’t imagine the Celtics keeping the pick honestly. I think they’ll trade it for a proven player as well. But there is something to be said about getting a really good player and having them play on a rookie contract. I know it’s not the same situation, but I didn’t think it was smart for Cleveland to trade Wiggins for Love. They could have kept Wiggins and still had $$ to go after free agents. But Cleveland wanted to ‘win now.’ In the mean time they haven’t won a title and my bet is that they don’t win it this year either. And Wiggins is arguably a better player than Love in just two years. Boston should keep the pick IMO.

Wiggins is a bit of a different prospect than who they’ll be looking at though. If they were in the top 2 you’d have a point, but Wiggins is a much bigger prospect than the rest of the draft

I still think Bender could be in play for the Celtics if they keep the pick.  In all likelihood though, I think they’ll try pretty hard to trade it.

Right now I think Hield might not be available for the Celtics, which may be a surprisingly good news, either for a trade or a pick between the consensus two best players.

Hield has got hype and flashy potential that makes him a bankable product, and working out with Kobe certainly means the Lakers have an eye on the kid. I understand Kobe’s decisions are not directly related to the Lakers front office but it means a lot when that kind of player decides to mentor you, and Lakers could very well decide to give up on Ingram or Simmons for their legend’s protegee.

Also, recent success of Lillard and McCollum, (besides the obvious Stephen Curry, who i would exclude because he is clearly an exception) show that senior guards with outstanding shooting ability have a very high chance of succeeding, and probably a better one than one-and-done at this position.

Maybe I am overestimating Hield or rather Hield’s hype and Kobe’s mentorship impact, but I think the Celtics getting Ingram or Simmons at 3 is a possibility, and I doubt they would trade any of the two given the chance.
