whateverParticipantWhat do you guys think, does he resembles more JJ Reddick or CJ McCollum?

BiggysmallsParticipantRedick has been my comparison for him for a while now. I think he’s an ideal role player on a good team, doesn’t need the ball to be effective, good knock down shooter and can play in transition. Doesn’t need the ball, but that isn’t to say he’s incapable of making plays as a secondary ball handler.
I think Redick is a realistic comparison, Jodie Meeks (barring injury) would be a floor/basement for him, ceiling would probably be a poor man’s Ray Allen — that’s reaching but I can’t think of another good low maintence 2 guard.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantDefinitely redick. He doesn’t handle the ball as well as McCollum and isn’t as good as a decision maker. I don’t think you could use him as point guard or primary ball-handler like you can with McCollum. He is much better playing off the ball and coming off screens in catch and shoot situations or when he only needs to take a few dribbles to get into his shot like redick.

Dr.RedParticipantI think a pretty good comparison for Buddy Hield is Michael Redd. The former Buckeye and Buck has slipped from memory because of his disappearance due to injury, but he was dang good in his prime. Redd slipped to the second round because he was undersized and not athletic enough, but went on to have multiple all-star appearances and was a killer for Milwaukee, before injuries cut his career short. I think Redd is a better comparison than Redick or McCollum, but if he is any mix of the three, then he’s going to have a pretty good career if he stays healthy and works hard. I see him as a starting sg on some teams, and definitely can find a role as 6th man for a number of teams.

Mr. 19134ParticipantI dont like this comparison Murray reminds me more of Redd.
Hield is a lil shorter but way more explosive and is able to cut and finish oops. Hield is also a major threat in transition with his speed something Redd didnt have the athleticism to excel at.

BiggysmallsParticipant^ That’s a really good ceiling one instead of Ray Allen! I loved Redd back in the day and injuries robbed him of what was a really promising career. He did fine but yeah I liked him a lot. I don’t see Hield being a 22 ppg guy but I’ve been surprised many times before

Jr. ROXASParticipantHouston does most of his damage in the post and mid-range. The threes are a bonus. Hield does everything on threes and layups.

Mr. 19134ParticipantHes closer to Brad Beal then Reddick.
For starters hes going to test out extremely well at the combin. I feel like cuz hes such a great shooter people r just overlooking how fast he is and unlike Meeks, Hield got a nice wingspan and can finish ooops.
He just scored 29 in the 2nd half of a tourny game hes gonna go top 5

holefillers1ParticipantNo. He is not. He is still closer to Jodie Meeks than the two you just mentioned. Kid hasn’t played one NBA game yet and you compared him to Bradley Beal. Beal is the same age as Hield and has been tearing up the NBA for a few years now. Buddy just learned how to dominate the college game this year. Meeks went for 50 + in College. NBA is way different when legit defenders are chasing you off the 3pt line. Ask Jodie.

Jr. ROXASParticipantPlaying style wise, he is close to Bradley Beal. You should be blind t not see that.

holefillers1ParticipantBlind to what fact, Hield’s best year in college is his fourth year. Beal was good right away. I don’t see a comp there. Buddy will be 27 by the time he accumulates the amoubt of NBA experience that Beal already has. .

Jr. ROXASParticipantI said PLAYING-STYLE WISE. Don’t bring age, potential or anything of those sh*t. We get that Beal was better at a younger age but the way they play right now, no doubt they are similar.

Mr. 19134ParticipantYup I compared an NBA draft prospect to an NBA player can ya believe it? Even more accurately I compared a projected top 3 pick on this site to the former 3rd pick.
And Meeks had clear limitations Buddy dont. Hield has a 6’9 wingspan and isexplosive compared to Meeks 6’4 wingspan and avg athleticism.
And Hield is also way better shooter to begin with just look at there college numbers plus Meeks was strictly catch and shoot where as Hield does damage with the ball.
They’re the differences that make Meeks a role player and Hield a potential star player.
It took Brandon Roy til his senior year to dominate too

canadabasketballisrisingParticipantI see him as what ben gordon would have been if he had stayed healthy in Detroit. Gordon in Rose’s rookie season was very similar, be it for only a year or two.

HitsterParticipantI like the Reddick and Ben Gordon comparisons personally. Like both those guys Buddy is coming into the NBA as a fairly proven commodity. He may not have the most upside but he may be a fairly safe lottery pick.
Reddick after not really finding a role for himself at Orlando has played his best baskeball with the Clippers, being one of those rarer players who improve after 30. Playing with CP3 obviously helped this but it has been good to see Reddick have some real success.
I believe that Buddy can have a good NBA career as a starter or as an impact 6th man type player. His shooting will help spread the play and he’d be a nice fit for teams like the T-Wolves, Pelicans or Bucks.
