Does Anthony Davis have the potential to become the all-time leader in blocks? It is very rare that an "all-time" record is passed in one of the major statistical categories, but surely the Brow has a chance to overtake Hakeem’s record.

To give you an idea of what he needs to do to break the record.

Hakeem played 18 seasons, and averaged 3.1 bpg for a total of 3830 blocks. He averaged 68 games per season including playoffs, He spent 2 extra seasons in College than AD, effectively giving Davis a 301 block head start on him.

    You have 3 choices

    • A) He can’t do it
    • B) He could do it if he gets lucky with injuries
    • C) He will do it

He has the most potential of any player that I have EVER seen…and he definitely has a chance if he doesn’t get injured (God willing). He is undoubtedly the future of the NBA for a long time to come.

at minimum Davis will be the all-time shot-blocker beating out Larry Nance for a non center. The fact that Davis is younger than Hakeem was coming out gives him a chance. But Davis being more of a Forward won’t be in the same “guarding the rim” position that the typical center is, will make the challenge more difficult,

But if anyone can, it will be Davis.

Can never predict injuries (see Rose, Derrick).   Davis is long and has great defensive instincts, he is in with a chance.

Don´t look now, but he also has a legit chance to crack the top 25 in the all time steals list…

AD is an incredibly good shot blocker who should have a long career.  I doubt he will be injury-prone, as he is really light on his feet for a big man and runs like a wing.  Of course, that doesn’t mean he can’t get hit by freak injuries.  AD definitely has the ability to get there, but he will likely need to play a really long career to do so and will have to always have somewhat of a focus on blocking shots.  I don’t think it is likely that he sets the record, but he has a better chance than anyone else in the league.

The blocks record is one of the great NBA records, like Stockton on assits, the Dream is a long way ahead of even Mount Mutombo who is next on the list.

Anthony Davis is only just over 2 seasons onto his NBA career so to guess where he may finish is very hard. I checked out Dwight Howard’s early career block stats and he was just over 250 blocks in his first two seasons combined so Davis is about 40 ahead of Howard at a similar point.

D12 now has 1673 career blocks just going into his 11th season during which he has maybe only missed 35-40 games in his career, so he is fairly durable but he is still only 26th on the block all time list and not even halfway near where Kareem is. Even if we accept Davis may a more prolific blocker long term than D12 and we give him say a 20% kicker over what Dwight is on now, that would still only put Davis at 2,000 odd blocks when he had been in the NBA a decade.

Davis if he hopefully stays sound and at a high level could go very high on this list but I don’t see him gettting the Dream’s record.
