valentineWho is a player you expect to really explode on the national scene next season?
My pick is Kennedy Meeks from UNC. The guy is down to 270 lbs (got to UNC at 320), and is now throwing down windmill dunks (albeit, not freakish ones, but still). You can look at pics of his transformation on Insidecarolinas instagram. The guy has put in a ton of work.
His freshman year in 16 min. he averaged 7.6 points and 6 rebounds (shooting 54.8% from the floor) per game along with 0.8 blocks (which is impressive considering he had close to no lift) His per 28 min averages were 13.3 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 1.4 bpg, conditioning kept him off the floor as he ran out of gas a lot. He also struggled against longer more athletic defenders, however with his lost weight and added muscle and lift, I expect him to improve in that area and due to better conditioning play around 25-30 mpg, and put up close to those numbers of 13+10.
Thoughts about Meeks or other guys you expect to explode?

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantI have a feeling Kyle Wiltjer could have a very good season for the zags. Him and pangos will be fun to watch this year.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantTyler Lamb or Katin Reinhardt… They are really good scorers who could break out on the west coast. Also watch out for Rysheed Jordan. Might be best PG prospect in college since EM went Overseas

Chilbert arenasParticipantWayne Seldon, he’s going to have to step up with Wiggins Tharpe, and Embiid gone. Clearly has the talent to do so, but does he have the leadership and alpha dog in him to let Kelly Oubre know it’s his team?

AdamJCallejaParticipantIf Jabari Bird stays healthy and can see him and Tyrone Wallace putting up big numbers for Cal. I also have a feeling Dwayne Polee is going to take a huge leap this year and jump into the first round come draft night.

ExumInfernoParticipantI was also going to say Jabari Bird, he was slowed by a few injuries last year and should score a lot of points now. Plus WCS should be huge now, more shots available and as his team has big-men depth he can just try to block shots all the time and not worry about fouls.

rileymcshea3ParticipantNigel Williams-Goss just seems like a guy who will be a really good college player.
My surprise picks for NBA prospects is Micah Littlejohn a freshmen at Tulsa and Alex Robinson freshmen and A&M who are both from my town Mansfield, Texas.

Skeating12345ParticipantHe really surprised people his freshman year. He wasn’t very highly recruited out of high school, but I think he will establish himself as one of the best PGs in the country this year.
I also hope Katin Reinhardt has a breakout year for USC.

JoeWolf1Yeah, Isaiah Taylor and Marcus Foster are going to really up their status after having solid, and surprising freshman years. I think both guys will make an All-Big 12 team.
Doug McDermott has been the face of Creighton for the past 4 years, but the past two seasons they’ve added some nice talent. I think Redshirt Freshman, 6’10” Toby Hegner could fill in some of Doug’s role. He’s a skilled inside/outside big.
I think Buddy Hield is really going to break out. I think he’ll be a 20 ppg 5 rpg 2 spg type player with Cam Clark graduating. I love his inclusion on the 2015 mock, and I think he’ll be a 15-25 range pick.
Shaq Goodwin, I think can make another jump this season. He was so much more effective since he worked on his conditioning, and I think he’ll keep improving. I could see him dropping 14 ppg 9 rpg this year and helping his pro stock.

cheetosjalapeno17ParticipantI have a feeling Anthony Barber will play great in the ACC next season. He’ll give Tyus Jones and Marcus Paige headaches next season with his insane ball handling. Now if he could only polish his J.

JoeWolf1I forgot
Larry Nance Jr. had a great junior season for Wyoming last season ( 16.4 ppg 8.4 rpg 2.1 bpg ) and although he suffered an ACL injury towards the end of last season, I think he’ll be back in full force next year. Wyoming was having a really good year, but fell apart when Nance went down. I think the Cowboys can get in the big dance, and raise Larry’s national profile in 14-15 with a possible NCAA tournament appearance.

providencefriars1ParticipantWatch out for EC Matthews for URI and Aaron Thomas for Florida St.
Matthews is a 6’5 combo guard who had a terrific freshman season for URI. He averaged 14ppg, 4rpg, 2apg, 35%3pt, 42%fg and should be more efficient next year with more talent around him. In his last 12 games he averaged 19ppg, 5rpg
Thomas is a 6’5 SG for had a quietly good season on a off the radar FSU team. He averaged 15ppg, 4rpg, 2spg, and shot 45%fg and 37% 3pt. Since January 1st he scored in double figures in every game except for three, that’s 21/24 games. In his four NIT games he scored over 20 three times, FSU should be better this year giving him more attention.

Professor RozayParticipantI believe that this will be the year that Caris LeVert steps up I a big way. LeVert will improve in every statistical category this season. He has improved each f the past two seasons at Michigan and this year will be no different. I believe that he will make the All-Big Ten first team. Don’t be surprised if he wins player of the year in the conference.

Professor RozayParticipantTerry Rozier has the ability to have a breakout season this year. I really think he can for sure get more steals and double his point average.

WrecklessParticipantZak Irvin. Caris LeVert will be the main guy but I think Irvin will be the #2 scoring option. He kind of played the Nik Stauskas freshman season role of just a spot up shooter, and I’m thinking next season he will expand his game and show off more of his offensive game.
Robert Hubbs. Next season Tennessee is going to be… Terrible. I read an article sayinng that they dont have any returnees averaging more than 5PPG coming back. Hubbs was a top 25 recruit in HS, and after a injury plagued freshman season he could have a solid year.
Terry Rozier – Reallt see him stepping into the Russ Smith role quite nicely. Could easily see him put up 17-18 PPG next year. Quick, athletic, and a good defender and a solid shooter. I like him.
Keifer Sykes – Quick, explosive. Nate Robinson 2.0?
other: Josh Scott (Colorado), Damian Jones (Vanderbilt), Troy Williams (Indiana)

Lotto StudParticipantI honestly believe that Dorian Finney-Smith is a real sleeper who deserves mentioning. With Wilbekin gone, I expect him to score a little more.
He cleans the glass very well defensively, but he’s just as effective doing it on the offensive end. 1 game this past season against Arkansas, he grabbed a total of 15 boards with 9 being on the offensive end. "Doe Doe" is an underrated aggressive player that gets to the line at a high rate for him to mostly live and die by the spot up 3-ball.
Be very aware this season.
