PureshooterParticipantWow, that really does sound bad. The Blazers have had a rough time with injuries to young players.

delfamParticipantit’s either swelling or a knee injury, not sure if it needs surgery yet. More minutes for Mathews and Fernandez

IndianaBasketballParticipantAnd EVERYBODY seems to think Kevin Pritchard was such an amazing GM. Why would he give a player, who’s torn his meniscus quite a few times in both knees, a maximum contract?
It’s sad, but Roy’s career doesn’t look like it’ll last long. He has holes in the meniscus in both of his knees due to having so many pieces of it removed. That’s what the pain and swelling is from. Imagine falling down and thinking there was a mattress to give you a soft landing, but there was actually no mattress… Just concrete. That’s what Roy is going through… He has nothing to cushion his knee. He’s going to be in significant pain for the rest of his career.

PureshooterParticipantWhen I tore my ACL the doctor told me there were pieces of my meniscus just floating around and that it would be best to just remove as much as possible to avoid any "catching" of the cartilage. I can say that it REALLY sucks. I’m sure that an athlete like Roy can recover better than I did, but the cartilage issue bothers me more today than the ACL.

IndianaBasketballParticipantOh yea… Messed up cartilage is bad news. Don’t be surprised if Roy needs microfracture surgery. The meniscus is what cushions your articular cartilage. Without that cushioning, you’re basically bone on bone.

SwatLakeCityParticipantOnce his surgury is over, he’ll be wearin’ a knee brace. Maybe even two.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantI hope they have some advanced operation options and can artificially implant some silicone(water based of course) into the area that needs meniscus support…that would prolong his career a few years and help with the bone to bone impact…I really hope this isn’t as bad as we think and he can return as The Roy we love and respect…
