Duke vs VCU..was anybody impressed by Brandon Ingram at all? Doesn’t play defense lol..hasn’t really impacted the game at all but had a few drives where you could see some skills lol……kind of an  Andrew wiggins and Jabari Parker  like deal heret …meaning he’s 1 or 2 yes from being big time whereas Jabari Parker(Ben Simmons) would be ready to hopefully contribute immediately barring any injuries . Random side bar.

. Melvin Johnson = Dion Waiters

3-11 from the line, 0-3 from 3, 2-7 from the field, airballs, turnovers against non-elite competition.  I dunno what that says about Ingram, but it’s not good.

Had some people disagree with me very strongly that I believed he was a notch below Jabari and Jah.  Kind of expected this from him after seeing him play 11 times.  Look for him to explode from time to time though.  He will struggle with consistency throughout the season.

I think he will be fine long term, but there’s a reason why these skinny guys rarely do work as a freshman. Unless your name is Kevin Durant, the guy is going to have growing pains. He’s a 4-5 years down the line guy. Bit overrated now.

Although I would be worried about his footspeed. He seems slow and I do’nt think he can guard at the next level, even with that length. His frame doesn’t seem like the kind that will put on too much weight (like Giannis, for example) either.

Simply he probably is not one & done… he needs time to develop… but he is a good prospect.

He looks completely disinterested out there. You can tell his confidence is low right now. He’s shown some pretty good ball skills and passing for a guy his size but honestly, he’s playing like such a softie. I agree with Rigelz. Unless something changes, he’s looking like a second year guy. Might be a little early to say but I’m just severely underwelmed  with him.

Wow…just imagined him possibly coming back next year. I’d put him at the 2, in the wing with Tatum. Sheesh.

He doesn’t need a second year in college, he just needs to get his confidence up by getting early buckets around the rim by attacking off the dribble.

He’s a year younger than Simmons and Skal, and his perimeter game is more affected by freshman jitters than the inside game of Skal and Simmons.

Simmons doesn’t even take any jump shots, much less 3 pointers, so his confidence isn’t affected by freshman outside shooting funks.

Defensively you can’t knock a 6’10 kid for not being able to smother a top point guard like Jamal Murray.

I didn’t see the game last night so I can’t comment on his footspeed last night.

His footspeed is below average. The best way I can describe is that it looks like he grew too quickly and is adjusting to his body. Not saying that’s what happened, but that’s what it looks like when he moves.

I know he supposedly has an insane vertical leap, but he hasn’t looked very athletic from what I’ve seen so far on the court. The lack of footspeed somewhat concerns me. He should be able to add strength with the right training but it is much more difficult to gain footspeed, especially when you are trying to add bulk as well. His skill-set and body type resembles durant but he definitely doesn’t move anywhere close to as fluidly as Durant at the same age. It is possible that he is still growing into his body and he is probably going to be a one and done no matter what. Still like him as a prospect but he could struggle defensively at the next level.

I think his ceiling is somewhere between Durant and tayshaun prince, but probably closer to prince.

I also mentioned him having a Wiggins problem. He and Wiggins both had no problem getting their shots off, but sometimes on the drive things got awkward. I watched every Kansas game from Wiggins. Some days Wiggins looked like a future star, most days he was underwhelming. Ingram has a massive jump, but it is obvious Wiggins is the only one who knows how to make it work in a game and he has a lot more bounce in his step. Ingram, on the other hand, is a way better jump shooter on day 1. Ingram still #2.
