Usually people on these thread are very liberal due to the age group on this site. Youth tends to be more liberal in general. But i am surprised to see the lack of support for this young man.. You can have guys like Arenas, Plax Burr, Mike Vick, in which so many people said to give them 2nd chances, where they without a doubt broke the law( and yes they have ethics clauses in their contracts also.) Why not much support for Davies?

There has been support of Davis but what do you expect people to say/do?..He broke the BYU law that he knew about. No one has condemed him or said he’s a horrible person. His teammates said he’s still family so i’m not uder standing why you think there has been no support for him

I am 26 and consider myself liberal. But, their really is not much I can do. I have posted some of my thoughts, and I believe he should definitely have a second chance (though I would have no idea how that would work other than saying, "Don’t have sex anymore") but it is their policy. When I said he was forced to sign it, I meant he was forced too in order to play at the school. Everyone is essentially, and sometimes it is not as easy as just going somewhere else. People do change, but he had to live and die (as far as his eligibility) by this code. I know he was raised this way, I know it was his religion as well (I suspect), still does not make it right in the eyes of many people (myself and a number of others, I am assuming even BYU fans must be slightly divided to some extent). As a fan of any team that loses an important player to suspension for any variety of reasons, you accept it, but you still think about it and maybe do not like it.  This is a tough pill to swallow, and to some extent, I feel it is a slight injustice. This situation is incredibly touchy though, and it is very hard to do anything about. It really is up to BYU, and they felt like they did the right thing. I may not feel the same way, but it is not my decision to make.

He had many other options but picked BYU knowing about there policy. I dont agree with it but if you already know whats the policy and you get caught breaking it there’s no one o blame but you’re self. There are alot of Morman kids that play basketball out here in Utah and People would like for them to go to BYU but they never force them to go there and they make sure they know what they are getting into if they are considering going there. Chances are high that he decides to transfer. Thats what i’m hearing out here

What are you talking about?  The kid didn’t have to go to BYU.  Although the majority of the population doesn’t agree with their rules and guidelines (me included), he knew what he signed up for when signing his letter of intent.  Every year at BYU you must sign documents saying you will follow the Honor Code at BYU which includes having pre-marital sex.  He knew what he was signing up for and the rules are the rules.

Does it suck for him and the team?  Yes.  Everyone basically gets screwed in this situation, but you can’t blame anyone other than Davies.  He knew the rules, he knew the consequences, he got caught…it is what it is.

Go to a different school if you want to hit the sheets and hit the bong….
