So Hayward signed, awesome, great time to be a Boston sports fan. The reported deal is for a 4 year max which for Hayward, starts at just under 30 mil to start year 1. After renouncing the rights to all their FA’s, the Celtics still need to clear 4 mil before they can actually sign Gordon. So, as the title sudgests, what is Danny Ainge’s next move?

The obvious one is trading Rozier and Jackson to a rebuilding team for 2nd round picks (yuck), but I don’t think that helps us at all, and is just a waste of talent and assetts. The other move is obviously trading one of Smart/Bradley/Crowder. I think this is the move that Ainge should be looking at right now, and he should look at consolidation moves if he can. Here are a couple trades I would be interested in as a Celtics fan. I’m curious to see what diferection other people think Celtics should go in, and how you value their players.

    Bradley/Crowder for Chandler/Hernongomez.

Nuggets want to win now it seems, and this trade would certainly allow that. They pretty much replace Chandler with Crowder, both bargain contracts for 3 more years, Crowder’s is 5 mil cheaper though. Then they essentially give up a promising young big man for a one year rental of Bradley. Celtics obviously get Chandler to play the starting 4 for them while Tatum fills out/2018 draft pick deveopes, and they still get a good player on a great contract while freeing up cap space to sign GH. Hernangomez is also a good big man prospect, and could give us good minutes on a rookie contract. Something the Celtics desperately need now.

Depending on how much $ he wants, a S&T for Jamycle Green with the Grizz would be nice. I think we could even expand that deal to involve other piece. If Grizz are looking to tank they may want to trade for their pick back.

Overall, Celtics are kind of handi-capped money wise because of Horford’s bloated contract, and the fact that they can’t match salaries for anyone. This leads me to believe Celtics will make one consolidation move for a 4/5, but if they don’t, just give Rozier away, and run out this team:

    Horford- Zizic

    Crowder- Theis- Semi

    Hayward- Tatum- Nader

    AB- Brown

    IT- Smart- Allen

That’s clearly the 2nd best team in the East, and it gives Ainge more time. He has till the all-star break to make some phonecalls, or he can just stay pat and make his moves in the offseason. I see his eyes being on Marc Gasol like previously reported, Anthony Davis obviously, and maybe even someone like Jabari Parker.

Obviously Ainge is gambling a lot right now, and only has two eyes to follow so many moving pieces. The BRK pick, the LA/SAC improvements and moves, his youth’s development, cap space, contracts ect. I think Danny’s may plan is to go into the 2018 offseason, with only 2 FA, Smart/IT, and decide what he wants to do. He can renounce IT and go strait rebuild if we get the top picks, sign Smart to start for 1/2 the price, and keep the dream alive. Of, sign IT, and look to make a huge splash. Either way, I like the direction, and can’t believe the criticism Danny Ainge gets when he’s obviously a top 5 GM.

they can go for Vucevic. A rebounder which they lack and a shooter which they like.
