In light of the Josh Smith signing and the seemingly awful fit he is to the team, one trade makes pretty logical sense to me if Detroit is truly in an irrational win now mode:

    Boston:
    PF/C Greg Monroe
    Expiring Contract Rodney Stuckey
    Expiring Contract Charlie Villanueva

    Detroit:
    PG Rajon Rondo
    SF Gerald Wallace

I know Ainge has said multiple times he wants to keep Rondo and Brad Stevens wants to coach him, getting a player like Monroe while shedding Wallace’s contract is an intriguing proposal. Monroe will never be a number one option, but he could be a great compliment to whomever the Celtics draft next year. I think Rondo is a top 3-4 PG in the league so I could totally see Ainge walking from this deal.

    Lineups:

    Detroit
    PG: Rajon Rondo
    SG: KCP
    SF: Gerald Wallace
    PF: Josh Smith
    C: Andre Drummond

    Boston:
    PG: Jason Terry
    SG: Avery Bradley
    SF: Jeff Green
    PF: Brandon Bass
    C: Kelly Olynyk

That Detroit lineup is extremely athletic.

And only one person can shoot the ball on that theoretical Detroit lineup.

In this scenario, Greg Monroe wouldn’t start over either Bass or Olynyk?

Haha good point TO. No Monroe would be the twelfth man, probably would even be cut.

Are you mental? Monroe is a top 10 post player in the league, borderline top 5.

I want to see him play on a winning team before we declare him an elite big.

…..You have Boston trading Rondo. IMO Boston should trade Rondo, but I think I’d rather take Drummond instead of Monroe. The way Joe Dumars is going it might even be a possibility. Haha

I’ve been working on a few trade ideas for Rondo and will post my thoughts at a later date. whether Rondo is on board or not, its the end of am era, get somthing before Rondo breaks somthing and he is out for good. Good work though outlaw.

I think this could actually happen in the next few hours. Makes perfect sense, Detroit can move Smith to the 4 and add a very underrated 3. If Rondo can stay healthy, that’d be a very scary lineup. Now, does Boston trade him? I’m sure they’d want more than just Monroe. Maybe a 2014 unprotected? Rondo is one of the best point guards in this league after all.

I could’ve sworn Terry was part of the KG-Pierce package.

Dammit you are right, I looked up Boston’s roster pre trade and it totally slipped my mind. They don’t really have a point guard so maybe Stuckey or Bradley but I don’t see Bradley as a point guard offensively but you could technically run the offense through Monroe.

Boston haters dreaming. Still mad that in Boston its all good we excited and Rondo and Stevens will give it a shot. We not fairweather here. We love the hate like i said. Unless Drummond is on the table I don’t see it happening. Trading for expiring works good to get FA wich boston does not get. They need high picks or an allstar for Rondo. If not Danny loses his job. Monroe needs a new deal so all those contracts would expire. Monroe can leave you get no big free agents cause its boston, so you traded Rondo for what? Nothing in return. Not smart

this would be a horrible trade for the pistons… they would have no shooting…

If Detroit’s biggest problem with the Smith signing is the floor spacing on offense, why would they trade for two non-shooters to put in the starting lineup? The only possible perimeter threat in that scenario is KCP, and he hasn’t played a game in the NBA yet. If the Smith signing was a questionable move, this one would be suicide for Dumars.
