I just thought about this a couple minutes ago that if the Celtics wanted to make a real pitch for Kevin Durant they should’ve made the Jimmy Butler trade at any cost. The Celtics would have had Isaiah Thomas and Jimmy Butler at very great contracts, they have the best young coach in the league, and they could sign Al Horford to go along with Kevin Durant. I don’t believe he will go to Boston now because they don’t match the offer like the Spurs, GSW, and even the Miami Heat can offer. I would have made that Jimmy Butler trade if I was Boston.

The Celtics have more to offer then the Heat. I’d easily take their future as oppose to the Heat with an aging Wade on one leg, Bosh who may have to retire due to a medical condition and Whiteside who’s a free agent.

The Celtics future is depended on picks in which Dany Ainge does not know how to pick. Yes, Wade is getting old, but he looks to have 2-3 years left in him. I was talking more than basketball with Kevin Durant interest in Miami. He would make more money in Miami, if he signs there I would put money on Whiteside staying, they have two promising second year players in Josh Richardson and Justise Winslow, and Pat Riley can attrack big time FA’s. I would take that over Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley, and a boatload of picks in which Danny Ainge does not know how to use them.

  I’d sell the we can match up against the Cavs to Kev. Also you are the unquestioned #1 option.
  Bradley can guard Irving. Crowder and Smart can share duties on defending Lebron.
  IT is an all star. Bradley is a good shooter now. Smart is improving even more. Then Add Durant to do his thing.

      Then whats the point of meeting? He doesn’t know wheter they can make a trade or not to upgrade the roster.
      If Durant knows he can get Horford to sign that team could compete with Cavs.

I disagree with the original premise of this thread. Durant knows that if the Celtics want another key piece or two, they can get them at any time with their assets, including Butler. ALA Lebron James getting Kevin Love with the Cavs’ assets a few years ago.
The Celtics can pitch to Horford and Durant (they’re the only team on Durant’s list that can give a max to both right now). If they get both, then they can make the trade for Butler or another key piece.
If not, that team could still compete with the Cavs in the playoffs.
