festar35ParticipantSo I hear continued chatter about Rondo may move for a contender, which it pretty standard for a guy in his situation. The thing that gets me is Boston isn’t too far from being there IMO.
Looking at their roster I would say they are sorted at most positions, they have a solid go-to guy in Jeff Green who finally is putting it together under Brad Stevens and he has always been fairly clutch late. Bradley, Sullinger and Olynyk all have the capability to put up 20 on any night with Rondo in charge of the point. Green may not be the answer they may want a bigger name as 1st option offensively, but as the roster stnads now he is pretty darn good.
They have good bench depth, the one thing I feel they need to take that next step is rim protection. Boston has a hard time defending the paint and stooping other teams from scoring if they find a rim protector they may hit another level. Rondo and Bradley are great defenders and Green is solid/athletic.
I feel Phoenix is in the same area in terms of just needing someone to help stop the other team scoring.

Memphis MadnessParticipantRevisit a Rondo to OKC trade.
The Thunder need to at least tread water until Durant and Russ get back.
So, the Celtics should ask for some of the Thunder’s young guys. They should go after BC product Reggie Jackson, Jeremy Lamb, and Mitch McGary along with Kendrick Perkin’s Boston history, scowl, and expiring contract.
Rondo and Ibaka with Steven Adams can hopefully stay afloat with the Big Two out.
THEN they could have a stretch run lineup of Rondo, Russ, Durant, Ibaka, and Adams with Nick Collison, Roberson, Morrow, Perry Jones, Lance Thomas, Telfair, and Ish Smith off the bench.
That would be the best all-around starting five in the league with some decent pieces off the bench.

omphalosParticipantI’d live to see Kendrick Perkins return to Boston in a cheap deal, would give them the rim protection they need and has great chemistry with Rondo obviously.

ExumInfernoParticipantNot sure Jeff Green is a solid go-to guy, or if he wants to be one. 7th on the Celtics for Win Shares per minute, 7th in PER, 6th in True Shooting Percentage, 3rd in salary. Green would be a good 6th Man for a contender, while Bass would be too.
They should trade Green while his scoring average is up, and trade Rondo now he is healthy as they don’t want to pay him maximum money.
Celtics should get the rim protector in the draft. Lots to choose from.
Need to move along A Bradley too, he is just taking minutes from bigger and better J Young.
Rondo to Kings or Knicks makes most sense, although Thunder would be good too.

OhCanada-ParticipantGreen isnt a solid 6th man for a contender and neither is Bass.
All Green does well is score in craft ways. Even with that being said he is not effiecient, is not a great long range threat, does not defend or rebound well for his position or size. I guess the idea behind him being an elite reserve is playing big minutes against reserve level role players instead of starters but I just dont see it.
Bass is more of an energy player that feeds off of his teammates ball movement and off of loose balls. He doesnt do anything you would expect a top notch sixth man to do.

Meditated StatesParticipantJames Young cant defend at a NBA level but eventually he should get minutes from Turner. But they should move make smart safe moves. They have 9 or 10 1st round pics over the next 5 years so the rim protector can be grabbed in there. Never try to suck for more than a year or two its GM training 101 but the two above posters would lose their jobs as there are no good deal with above mentioned teams to be made. If they are out of playoff contention then you have more wiggle room for deals. Be a smart GM 1st.

natevalParticipantCeltics sucked last year and they suck again this bad GM 101 per Mediteated States.. Does that mean Danny Ainge loses his job? I hope not! Unfortunately its a process rebuilding you need to have patience.

Meditated StatesParticipantThey have rebuilt and like i said 10 1st round picks over 5 years how many more picks you need? They are rebuilding and improved and they will continue with the picks. No logical reason to suck as bad as possible. Seems personal lol.
