Umesh Kumar MParticipantBoston Sends F.Melo, C.Lee & B.Bass
They get J.SmithBoston Roster:
Garnett / Colins / Wilcox
Smith / Sullinger
Pierce / Green
Bradley / Terry
Rondo / DoolingWhy? Smith brings athleticism and defense which is exactly what the C’s need from its bigs. Smith and Rondo will be the future of the C’s when KG and Pierce retire.
Atlanta Send J.Smith
They get F.Melo, C.Lee & B.BassAtlanta Roster:
Pachullia / Melo / Petro
Horford / Bass
Stevenson / Korver
Lee / Morrow / Jenkins
Teague / HarrisWhy? The current team is not good enough to make a deep playoff run but will be good enough to get that 7-8th seed. So they need to get rid of Smith and tank for a lottery pick so they are not stuck in mediocrity and hope their pick gets them a future all star. If this trade goes through Horford can return to his natural position and Atlanta gains 2 good young players on reasonable contracts and a prospect in Melo.
Thoughts?

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantLol…………
So Atlanta just gives up a potential 22-10-4 near all-star for an overweight rookie, an 2 average 6th men?
You’ve GOT to be a Boston fan.

Bird_YearsParticipantThis guy better not be a Boston fan, he thinks we can only make 7th-8th seed with the current team. If he is I’m gonna email Danny Ainge and ask him to revoke his fanship

LerinErinParticipantThat is horrible for the Hawks. They would be better allowing Smith to walk as a free agent than take that.
Do you really think Fab Melo so good that the Hawks could move Horford to PF.???

zpn938378ParticipantI dont see atlanta doing this trade. They would need something more significant back.

LerinErinParticipantEven if the Hawks lose Smith after the season they would have a huge boat load of cap space.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantI wouldnt see Atlanta doing this trade unless they got Jeff Green, or KG back, and even then it would be heavily favoured in the Celtics side.

geothermalParticipantlol! who was the center piece for the boston’s end? fab melo?
lee is a good sixthman or a better role player, he is fast, good with defense and can shoot threes, Bass can rebound and score on midrange, fab melo a defensive rookie, he has nothing proven yet,
if im atlanta, i’ll give Josh Smith away for a couple of 1st rounders, he fills the stat sheet, and way too athletic for his size

Brew Meister SmithParticipantIF Atlanta were to trade Smith – and right now it is definately not a certainty – they should get may more for him. He would fit OK in Boston. They would have a good shot at resigning him as well. But they would have to give up a lot more to make this deal.

HobbyOGParticipantThis has to be one of the WORST trade ideas I’ve ever seen on this board..

TRC1991ParticipantAtlanta could get way more for J Smoove. Plus, Danny Ferry just dumped Marvin and Joe’s contracts, he’s not in any financial bind to get rid of Smith’s
