CDPHParticipantThis is a "where there’s smoke, there’s fire" kind of deal if ever I’ve seen one. I’d be pretty surprised if Okafor doesn’t get shipped to Boston for the #3 pick.
Philly is reportedly in love with Dunn at #3.

SubZeroParticipantIf this goes anything like my 76ers association in 2k went, they’ll be winning multiple rings soon lol. Albeit I traded Embiid for the pick that turned into Kris Dunn, but it evens out.
Although Dunn doesn’t exactly shoot the ball well at this stage, he’ll be great at giving the ball to Simmons, Okafor, and Embiid in their spots and putting them in positions to score, not to mention he’ll exponentially improve their backcourt defense and he’d be a great mature locker room presence. Even though Murray’s shooting would probably be a better fit, Dunn would be a great piece moving forward

goldie92689ParticipantIf I have Simmons, then I want Murray to compliment him. Don’t really want two pass first players.

binetParticipantThe way they seem to want this trade even accelerated is probably because they feel like it is a great deal. Perhaps because of Simmons workout, but more probably also because they think they are getting a decent package. With how many picks the celtics have it’s possible Philly are getting #16 as well and expect to land a perfect fit like France’s Luwawu there.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantOkafor for Dunn and Bradley plus the 16th pick is the asking price or Philly keeps Jahlil for better or worst…
Jerry may be packaging up 16 and 24 to move into the range for their Darkhorse 3rd prospect, I heard it was Marquesse Chriss a few weeks ago, that may have changed since then, they need help at Sg and Sf and have had guys like Bembry/Luwawu/McCaw in for workouts, Korkmaz would also make sense with his range and connections to Saric…
I would pull the trigger on the offer as much as I like Okafor, at worst Dunn/Bradley/the 16th pick bring some athletism and defense at G, I’d swing for the fences at 16 and draft McCaw or Korkmaz, than follow up with Jackson at 24 and Bembry at 26…Korkmaz may fall to 24 too and IDK if DJax will be there either…
Depth Chart
PG
Kris Dunn and Demetrius Jackson, let the other Guards go (Smith,Canaan,McConnell,Marshal)
SG
Avery Bradley, Nik Stauskas and Patrick McCaw or Furkan Korkmaz (Who may be stashed for a year)
SF
Robert Covington, Jeremi Grant and Deandre Bembry (who can also play Sg and Pf)
PF
Ben Simmons, Dario Saric and Rachaun Holmes
C
Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid

binetParticipantI think if you want Bradley and #3 from Okafor, you are not getting #16 pick. You should get an unproven ready-to-be-a-bust prospect like Rozier or James Young.
And the Celtics would not trade one of their core guys instead of just shipping their absurd number of picks everywhere, no matter if it is fair value.

markfitz14ParticipantBradley alone is more valuable than Okafor or Noel. Bradley is all D1st team with decent offense to go with.
Rumor is Celtics are hesitent to give up the third pick for Okafor or Noel. Celtics have the leverage. They could just draft Brown and develop him or take Dunn and look to make a move next year. They have no rush to make a move like the 76ers do to make room for Simmons.

I am an idiotParticipantDon’t see how you give up #3, #16 and Bradley for the #3 in last year’s draft. I know the C’s need a center and scoring, but Okafor gives so little on the defensive end (and Bradley is one of our better scorers) that I don’t see this happening.
Okafor for the #3, one of our bench guys (like Hunter, Rozier or Young) and the #23 (or a couple of seconds) makes more sense.

220ParticipantI’m surprised to see Avery Bradley mentioned in this deal. I’d think the Celtics would be reluctant to give him up. Plus Bradley, #3, and #16 seems too much for Boston. I’d be surprised this deal goes through as proposed. I could see #3 and #16 for Okafor, maybe even #3 and Bradley for Okafor, but not all three.

natevalParticipantWhere have you seen that rumor Scare Crow rises? That would be a really nice trade for Philly. Don’t see why Boston would do that trade. Okafor to me is worth no more then the 3rd pick. Chad Ford speculated on a trade Monday consisting of
Okafor, Stauskas, Landry, 24 and 26
for
Bradley, Rozier, Hunter, 16 and 23
Didn’t Ford also just write that Okafor didn’t have the trade value Philly hoped for? Philly needs to do the trade more then Boston. Why would Boston over pay? I can’t wait to see what Okafors real trade value is

EndlessknightParticipantI get what you’re saying from Boston’s point of view but why would the Sixers ever do that deal? No deal is far more likely then that crap going down.

natevalParticipantI didn’t report it Ford did. Say what you want about Ford but he is talking to GM’s and Agents throughout the league.
Tim Welsch is the former Providence coach, he now does local TV work on the NBA here in Boston. He’s very well connected to Providence, he’s saying Philly really wants Dunn. I believe Philly wants Dunn more then the Celtics want Okafor. No way Celtics overpay for Okafor.

EndlessknightParticipantFair enough but I think we all know how trustworthy Ford is, that’s to say not much. No way the Sixers do that deal.

circumlocution75ParticipantOkafor has gotten a bad wrap by the national press
He played w/ a D-League Roster last season
Okafor’s rookie stats are way better then the Rookie Andre Drummond & Boogie Cousins (look it up)
I watched him Many times & he can Absolutely stroke it from 15 feet & in & he is a sweet passer out of the double team & he’s got Post moves for days…….
Phila is Crazy to trade this kid ———- he is Freakishly strong & Unmovable in the post
Okafor will be a STAR in Boston & the Celtics will make the COnference Finals vs Cleveland NEXT year – they won’t win yet but Big Jah on That Cletics team will be a Nightmare for opponents

binetParticipantOkafor to the Celtics will happen.
The Celtics want a difference maker and they are not getting him at #3.
The Celtics have tons of draft pick but already a very deep and loaded roster, so they are willing to trade or sell a lot of their picks.
Okafor is good enough to try, and if he does not fit, at least Boston still have roughly the same team it had last year, plus next year nets pick to trade again.
I think Boston still wants to wait and see if dream scenario Buddy Hield at #2 (and Ingram available at 3) happen before pulling the trigger.
I think the 6ers are also patient because they will need to trade number of their draft picks after that trade because they probably want to have no more than 5 rookies next year. With Simmons, Embiid, #3 and Saric, that’s 4, and these 4 are going to have big minutes.
Colangelo mentionned the New York franchises looking for draft picks, some of the veterans heading to Philly in exchange for picks should come from there (my bet on Bogdanovic, perhaps Calderon).
I doubt the Celtics break their team for Okafor so the deal should be something like #3 +# 16 for Okafor, with maybe swaps with later picks of the two teams (could go both directions, 6ers upping at 23 or downing at 31 depending on negociations…)
