Huesy7ParticipantWhich players do you think will play better than their predicted draft position and those which will play worse?

Moon RiverParticipantIf that guys is truly healthy, I think we will look back and say he was only a second round pick because of his back injury. He can step in and be a solid pro immediately with his rebounding and defense. The offense will come.
Conversely, Jerami Grant just does not have a position IMO. I think he is a first round pick who will not live up to the billing and that is coming from an Orange fan.

SpartanGloryParticipantPayne better than this sites projected position. Though I think he’ll go late lottery.
I think Exum could face some adversity early on because of the huge increase in competition and speed of the game.

I can see the negs coming but I think Andrew Wiggins could be a bust because of his mentality.
Boom
It’s not really that big of a leap but I think Julius Randle will play a lot better than many expect especially if he falls to the 7-8 range, people are down on him for his measurments but think of the greats like Charles Barkley who excelled at the PF at only 6’6".
Another player I think will play better is Glen Robinson III, he struggled this year because he had to lead, if he gets on a team where his role is to be the Robin to a Batman I think he could potentially play really well.

PhogifyParticipantBust: Julius Randle – watching him in college he definitely struggled against guys with length, most 6’9 starting power forwards in the league have around a 7’2-7’4 wingspan while Julius is under 7 feet there. People say this guy has a great motor but he has stretches where he looks like he really doesn’t care as well. Maybe he won’t be a bad player but looking at this draft and this guys is projected 4-7 I think even if he turns out to be a solid player there will be a ton of guys drafted below him that turn out better.
Boom: I like later first round pick small forwards in TJ Warren and Cleanthony Early, I think they are lottery talents. Prototypical SFs in today’s NBA game, I think they will both be starters in the league eventually.

moochieeParticipantBoom – Dario Saric…Lacking in the athleticism department but his skillset is so advanced for a player of his size. He’s already become dominant over in Europe at such a young age. I think the guy can just straight up ball. I’d like to see him next to Anthony Davis in New Orleans.
Bust – James Young…Nice physical profile, but has not proved himself to be a capable defender or an efficient scorer. I think his ‘all-star’ potential is overblown.

hbomb3300ParticipantBoom: I’m going with Elfrid Peyton. He will go in the late teens/early twenties and turn out to be an above average starting point guard.
Bust: If his draft position is anywhere near where this site has him going then I’ll say Kyle Anderson. He’s really slow obviously and I wasn’t impressed by his ball handling in the games I saw him. If a player is going to try and be a playmaker at that size they need to have a great handle since it’s much easier to steal from them plus add to the fact that he isn’t going to blow by anyone.

BA30ParticipantI only saw 2 of his tournament games, but he reminds me of a less intelligent Luke Walton. He is too slow to play 1/2/3 and not big or physical enough to play the 4.

Winning_TimeParticipantBusts:
Marcus Smart- It pains me to say this because I like him. People talk about his passing ability but I think in no way does the make him a point guard. he does not control the game well. He is a good defender and attacker but I’m not sure he is someone who a franchise places into their core. I think he will be more of a journeyman.
Booms:
TJ Warren – My university’s hero, I love this guy. He works so hard and showed it by losing twenty pounds to become a more agile version of himself. I can already see he is fixing his shot mechanics in his workout video. His stock is middle of the first round so he should go to a team that is solid enough to win but bad enough to actually get a shot.
Russ Smith- I’m not talking all star or anything here, but a guy every playoff team will want. He can be a spark off the bench much like a Nate Robinson. I think he sticks around longer than people think.
Glenn Robinson III- This one is all situational. If he goes to place where he is asked to be the one or two guy, he will probably end up just being okay. But if he ends up on a good team, with a solid lineup where is he more of a three guy then this guy could leave a mark.
Boring but whoever the spurs take. They always make players succeed. From Green to Mills. I currently have them taking Isaiah Austin, Dwight Powell, and Kendall Williams. I could see them turning Austin into a solid player after the Duncan era and Powell and Willaims staying on the roster.

max23ParticipantIm a big fan of Smart.Im pretty sure his coach said that he gave him all the freedom to call all the offensive plays this year. But honestly i think his ability to make his teammates better, his court vision has become underrated because of his tendencies to take truly stupid shots.
I hope he gets better in this aspect of the game, although because of his confident mentality i think it might not improve a lot since the future improvement of his shot(yes i trust it will) will mean even more confidence on shooting whenever, with whoever on him…

Rubio, danilo, etc even the prospect who aren’t in the league yet like Mario and the other younger guy seem to have tons of footage but not exum…

imAboutDatActionParticipantjust flat our saying they werent going to be #1 picks dont prove anything.
now, if you predicted that Embiid would jump them then you deserve some props…but not for this.
not to mention theres still a good chance Wiggins goes #1.

Magic JordanParticipantBusts – Payton, James Young, TJ Warren, Kyle Anderson – TJ Warren because he is so underwhelming athletically. His game is tailer made for the 1980s, but unfortunately not today. Kyle Anderson not as much of his athletic ability but mostly because I don’t think any team will put the ball in his hands enough for him to be effective. James Young because he showed nothing for me to suggest otherwise. A shooter who isn’t really a good shooter, didn’t seem to engaged on defense. Payton… I dunno just call it a hunch.
Booms – Doug McDermott – I think he will lead this class in scoring his rookie year.
Randle – I love hard workers, you can’t teach that. Won’t have the pressure of the other guys and I think he will be a terror in the open court.
Smart – Pretty much the same as Randle. Both of these guys are mid lottery picks so I dunno if you can really call them booms but I think they will be 3 of the top 7 players in the class when it’s all said and done.

SpartanGloryParticipantMcDermott is going to get locked up anywhere inside the 3 pt line.
Here ya go, get a good luck at McDermott against actual NBA competition. He scored 20 points on 19 shots and looked physically overmatched almost every time he got the ball in close.
Maybe he’ll average 8 pts off the bench….if he’s lucky.

Magic JordanParticipantCongratulations on finding one game where one of the most prolific college scorer of the past decade struggled.
Scouts also said he was borderline unguardable and had no problem getting his shot off at the team USA mini camp. I will take your example over their word though for sure.

Sabdiego12345678Participantwarren is a better athlete, a better scorer(Not Shooter), taller, longer wingspan, he can play defense unlike doug which will limit his playing time significantly, warren is also younger with more potential than doug

DolanCareParticipantBust: Marcus Smart. I don’t think he’ll bounce out of the league, nothing like that. But I do think he’ll struggle to play for a winning team. In today’s game, point guards need to either be an elite shooter, an elite distributor, Russell Westbrook or all of the above. . (Unless you’re on the same team as Lebron James). I see a little of Tyreke Evans in him. Evans is a good player, but I think everyone can agree he’s a tough one to integrate on a championship team.
Boom: KJ McDaniels. The dude has top-tier athleticism and knows how to play within a system. At his very worst, he’s Luc Richard Mbah Moute. So if he slips into the second round he’ll be an absolute steal.
I like Randle too. People need to understand that Coach Cal decided to keep him glued to the post. In high school the man was hitting threes on a consistent basis. Randle will end up being a slightly better Paul Millsap IMO.

ncballerBoom: PJ Hairston. Especially if he ends up on a team like the Thunder…watch out. He can come in and average 13 ppg a game right away. Lottery talent who is going to end up making a GM very very very happy.
Bust: Jordan Adams. I love the kid. He is old school to the bone, and beats people with his smarts and savvy. I put him in the college bad-ass category (Jimmer, Marcus Paige, Russ Smith, Adam Morrison, etc). Don’t see his game translating to the NBA due to just poor athleticism. Defenders are much smarter and plays won’t be run for him in the NBA. Look for him to be glued to the bench, then tearing it up in Europe.

King CaluchaParticipantBust: Marcus Smart. I liked his game for college and he looks like a fighter and a hard worker… but as someone mentioned before, I don’t see his game translating to the NBA. It seems he will struggle with his shooting and he probably won’t be able to bully his way to the rim like he did in college.
Boom: Adreian Payne, Saric, Greek Freak 2, Slo Mo (if he falls outside the lotto). I don’t think they are all going to be all stars but at least better than projected.
