These things are always popping up on less-than-reputable sites like Bleacher Report (presumably where the bottom of the ‘sports journalism’ class goes to die) but if there were bets going I think:

John Wall will break out in 2013/14, I mean really break out.

Nobody was surprise that the Wizards were a better side once Wall came back from injury but a lot of people were a little taken-aback at just how good. I really think if he stays injury-free in the coming season (I realize that’s a fairly big if) he can have a huge season and consistently sneak into the top 10 for MVP.

This may seem like a jump but coming back from injury to a fairly lackluster/inexperienced supporting cast to average 18.5 – 4.0 – 7.6 is pretty damn solid. I think with the excellent selection of the contribute-now Porter as well as the maturation of Beal I could see wall with numbers like 21.5 – 4.0 – 9.0 which I think would certainly slip him into that conversation, especially if the playoff spot finish many people are predicting comes to fruition. So look I’m not saying he’s going to win MVP by any stretch but I think he can have a really huge season and establish himself as a top-5 PG on an up-and-coming team.

    Not bold, honestly.

He’ll put up that, with tons of TOs and low fg%s.

If he can improve his 3pt shooting, it will make defenders think twice about sagging off of him. Then we can talk about him as one of the best PG’s in the NBA. A top 5 PG should shoot 3’s better than 27%

Guys have different skills. And most NBA point guards today aren’t great shooters. Rose isn’t , Rondo isn’t DWill, CP3, none of them are great long range shooters. You don’t like Wall, that’s fine, but his 3 shooting won’t stop him from being top 5 at his position.

dwill is a well above average 3pt shooter and so is cp3, neither is great but dont lump those guys in there with rose who is decent and wall and rondo who are well less than average.

How is that “well above average”????? Do a little research before you speak.

He played pretty well last year when he wasn’t banged up. A healthy Wizards team is a playoff team this year in the East. Wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see him as an allstar.

A healthy Wall and Beal means playoffs in the East, it’s still a weak conference the Wizards began to look strong and gel towards the end of the season. A full offseason with Wall and Beal playing together in training camp and preseason will go along way with both of their development.

I wouldn’t say Wall becomes an MVP candidate but he is definitely a strong candidate to make his first All-Star Game which would help solidify his choice as the number 1 pick 4 yrs back, as well as, secure his big pay day this summer.

He’s still very young as has as much room to grow as any PG in the L. He has a running mate in Beal, another possible stud in Porter, two reliable bigs and a deep enough bench to make a good run at the 6 through 8 seeds in the East.

i feel like the makeup of the nba has changed so much that there will probably be about 3 new playoff teams for each conference.

I agree with you. Similar to D-Rose break out year in 2011 I think this will be Wall’s year. Wall, Rose, Irving are the going to be fun going at each other in the East. The way Wall played last year when he came back was amazing. They would of been a playoff team had he played the whole year. I expect big things from him.
