druneave3ParticipantSorry to take up space on the forum for this question but I am sure someone will know on here.
The Bobcats pick that is owed to the Bulls (unprotected 2016, top 10 2014), how does that excactly work?
The Bobcats look they have a good coach and a group of pretty good role players that are battling every night. MKG might have the ugliest shot in the league, struggling with his confidence, looks lost at times, but still is that energy guy who brings it every night that we have always known. I was extremely down on Zeller but he has been a pleasant surprise for me. Kemba and the rest of the young core are at least competent and I don’t think they will be in the mix for a top pick unless the ball bounces their way.
If they end up getting the 11 pick (or lower 12,13, etc) this year, do Bulls automatically receive that pick? Or do they have the option to decline? Thanks.

druneave3ParticipantI would like them to grab a late lottery pick this year because, I can’t believe I am saying this, but I don’t think the Bobacts are going to get worse over the next several years.

SiggyParticipantI agree with that. Looks like they finally have a good coach and they have enough grinders on that team to steal wins from opposing teams who don’t play as hard they do. Besides that, I’m kinda of sick of waiting for this pick. I expect a few big changes to the Bulls’ roster this upcoming offseason. Love Deng but I think he’ll be too expensive to retain. If their plan is to bring over Mirotic, which all signs are pointing to, then they almost HAVE to amnesty Boozer if they can’t flip him for an expiring during the season. It isn’t their philosophy and it doesn’t seem to mesh with their window, but they might have to rely on young-er players to fill vacated rotation spots. Assuming that the Bobcats pick would be somewhere in the late lotto, there are quite a few players I’d be more than happy with for the Bulls.

DlesnieParticipantWe do have a great defense and I think we will be at least competitive in most of our games this year. I think we will be a fringe playoff team, and in that case our pick will automatically go to the Bulls. The Bulls do not have the option to decline, but even then they never would decline this year, since this draft is so deep they may be able to find someone of value in the mid teens.
Luckily for us we have both a protected pick from Portland and a protected pick from Detroit that we may get to use this year, so not picking with our pick wouldnt be a total loss.

KidIcarus35ParticipantBut them not ending up with a pick in the best draft in 10 years is such a Bobcat thing to do.

Moon RiverParticipant"top 14 protected in 2012, top 12 protected in 2013, top 10 protected in 2014, top 8 protected in 2015, unprotected in 2016."
I am tired of this pick as well, as well as the Mirotic situation. Hopefully, both are cleared up in the summer of 2014.
Long way to go in the season, but this pick could be a nice bargaining chip at the trade deadline when Deng could get traded as well.

ThunderHog35ParticipantI dunno if this still needs answering but yes, they would automatically get the pick if it is outside the top 10 after the lottery.

Ebown5ParticipantI am a Sixers fan and this Bobcats pick that the Bulls hold would be something that we would love to have, and I am curious what you would think about trading it to us(along with whatever salaries) for Evan Turner?
I seriously doubt that you get it this year since the Bobcats aren’t likely to be good enough to get out of the top 10. Next year it is possible that they will get out of the top 8, but again it could go either way.
Seeing as you guys are already contenders I would think that it would be better for you to get a player like Turner now instead of waiting for a few years for a pick that you may even need to wait longer to develop into a player like Evan.
Turner would improve you guys immediately.
What do you think?

SiggyParticipantTurner’s up for an expensive extension that the Bulls would likely be unwilling to pay. He’d also be back to being a 3rd option in a half-court heavy, controlled offense, which is a role he struggled with. He’s not the outside shooter that the Bulls need. Oh and he and Rose hate eachother.
I’d say no thanks.

Ghost01ParticipantI just wish the Bulls would upgrade the roster. It needs it. They have the assets: Expirings, young players, a euro-stashed player, a potential lottery pick of Charlotte’s…I mean c’mon? Right now their offense is not looking too hot and I think if they want to win the title this year (which was my preseason prediction) they need to make a move.
