I don’t know that I’d blow it up, but a major change or two is needed if they hope to win it all.

We cannot be that frustrated with a team that has yet taken the route to stack their roster like all the other teams out West. They have been building from the ground up without acquiring big name targets.

2016 free agents signing might be 1 of the worst in nba History.the Blazers can’t do much Becuz of those contracts.Turner 4 yrs 75 million. Meyers 4 years 41 million. Ezeki 2 years 16 million. Harkless 4 years 40 million.Crabbe 4 yrs 75 million who was later traded. But none of those players contributed much in this series. I doubt they split up Their backcourt. Maybe the Blazers see Collins as their starter at center and see what they can get for Nurkic?

is nurkic a un-restricted free agent this year?? I can’t see them re-signing him if so.

I would look to see what I can get for McCollum and Mo that’s for sure. ( Doubt anyone would take Myers on his contract). Depending on what happens with LeBron, PG13, Kawhi etc. I can see the Celtics, Lakers and 76ers all as possible landing spots and McCollum.

The 76ers in particular would look pretty nasty with Ben, Embiid and McCollum. Plus they have ample cap space, picks and prospects.

Some of those contracts are just horrible and will be the reason why they can’t build a championship level team. They do have two all-star level players in their prime so I dont think it would be smart to rebuild. Unfortunately only a couple teams are capable of winning the championship each year and a lot of things have to go right to be one of those teams. There is some value for a franchise to be a consistent playoff team, which is what the Trailblazers are right now. Maybe they can add another all-star in a couple years when some of the contracts come off the books. Blowing it up now would set their franchise back 5-8 seasons.

Disagree. With CJ and Dame as their two of their 3 best players, even adding another all star – unless that all star is Giannis, Durant, Embiid or James – wont cut it. They need at minimum two more guys as good as the two they have, then they would still need a bench. They dont have the means to acquire what they need. They need to trade at least on of Dame or CJ and get back two draft picks for them in the package, then hit a home run with both picks. So get out the TNT.. Its first round exits for eternity otherwise Blazer fans.

They are at the luxury tax limit already and will be for a couple more years.   This team needs to trade one of those guards for a wing…or blow it up.  No way Portland goes $20 mil over the luxury threshold. None of the top vets are signing on at any of the exeptuons to chase a ring when you have to compete with everyone else out west.

They gotta trade Dame or CJ. They just don’t work defensively, and I don’t think Nurkic can be your best big guy either. Maybe Zach Collins can continue to improve and be their starter in a year or 2, but if they don’t make moves then I can’t see them catching up to anyone in the West

They are fairly maxed out on the cap despite a few canny moves to keep the wage bill below luxury tax level. Nurkic is a RFA this summer and will get interest from a number of teams. What his ballpark salary might be is hard to guess but I’d figure something around $18 to 20 million per year for a guy of his age and skillset at least.

Collins is a work in progress so if they let Nurkic walk they may not be so good.

Lillard and McCollum are 27 and 26 respectively so would be at or near their peaks so they would want Portland to retain their best players. Both are under big long term contracts but Lillard in particular would attract a lot of trade interest. Whether a team near the top of the draft would make an offer remains to be seen.

I said last year and even two years ago, this backcourt needs to breakup, it’s too small and there is no defense in that backcourt…

Your not going to win when your so-called "star PG" Lillard shoots 35% and has nearly as many turnovers as he did assists.

I reckon Denver would of made this at least a 6 games series…
