Bill Simmons BOS/ATL/LAC trade scenario

Bill Simmons just tweeted this trade: KG to Clips. Josh Smith, Eric Bledsoe, and Pachulia to Celtics. DeAndre Jordan, Brandon Bass, and Celts protected 1st round pick to Hawks. Thoughts?

Note: wasn't my idea, so don't punish me for it lol

Boston really gets a nice

Boston really gets a nice haul for 2 years of KG in that deal. How about throwing Avery Bradley Atlantas way?

How do the Hawks get killed??

How do the Hawks get killed?? Zaza Pachullia and Josh Smith for Deandre Jordan and Brandon Bass is a steal for them. A 24 year defensive center with outstanding athletic ability compliments Horford perfectly. If it isn't this they are risking either this year's drafting and expiring contracts or nothing in return for Smith. Sell high when you can and that's high. If anything Clips are getting screwed. That trade still leaves them without any depth at PF and C, especially on defense. They wanted Millsap to bring off the bench in the playoffs and would be cheaper than to get than KG.

Too risky for the Clippers, but not a terrible idea.

This trade improves the Clippers this year and makes them a serious contender. However, if they fail or if things go sour with KG, the bright future of LAC just got a lot dimmer as this trade gives up two big pieces of their potential future.

Basically, if the Clippers went with this deal they'd be throwing all of their cards down on the table. If it doesn't work out immediately, it's a serious long-term harm. Still... it does seriously improve their chances to make a real run in the next two years.

For the Celtics, this would be a great move. They're not contending anyway right now, and this is a nice long-term improvement. I like the deal for the Hawks as well. Getting a young defensive center is a decent score for an expiring Josh Smith in my view, especially since Smith is clearly NOT returning to Atlanta. Yesterday his agent mentioned Smith would be willing to sign a long-term deal with Milwaukee in the event of a trade...

DeAndre Jordan a role player

DeAndre Jordan a role player and a protected pick for Josh Smith? And Celts get Smith and Bledsoe for Garnet Bass and a pick?Wow let's throw in Paul and Griffin too for Bradley and Barbosa to the Clippers.Better go with Humphries and Brooks if you re Atlanta seriously...

I think the Hawks will jump

I think the Hawks will jump if they didnt have to take Bass contract. Ferry will like the cap space for free agency. I think Jordan is not worth his contract, but a defensive center that young, Ill take.

I never liked the idea of KG

I never liked the idea of KG for Bledsoe and Jordan. I feel the price is too steep for 2 or 3 (max) more years of KG as he continues to decline. I know Bledose needs to get paid in 1 1/2 years but I feel this is the ultimate attempt at buying a championship this season. The draft is so hit or miss its hard to find quality pieces to replace what the Clips would be giving up.

This trade is a win for the Celtics and Hawks... Seems to be a long term step back for the Clips.

Maybe if the Celtics protected first was going to the Clips instead of the Hawks?

Also please realize, letting

Also please realize, letting Smith leave for nothing in FA is an option. You do not always need to get back players. Ferry is willing to blow up the roster and to rebuild completely. Next year's draft has potential studs, and Hawks management has given Ferry the power to do whatever he wants. Smith can be had for a draft pick in next years draft. If Phx was to offer next year's pick with no protection (plus cap filler of course) Ferry will walk away happy. In this scenerio, I wouldnt be suprised to see Hortford dealt as well, again as a way to blow up and rebuild. Atlanta doesnt want another semi-contender team. After years of struggling, they were happy with a team that consistently made the playoffs, but now they want to build a winner. Ferry will not take on bad contracts. If Jordan was the missing piece, then maybe, but not in this case.

Simmons is tripping

When Simmons is trying to be funny, he;s annoying, but when he's serious; he's hysterical. Yeah why not throw in Paul and Griffin, LOL
