I’d say Boatright could be a really interesting prospect if he can get a full year in next year.

I thought Siva would have been much better at this point…if he’s a sleeper, he’s going to be really hard to wake up.

I had to give Fran Fran A Thumbs Up for mentioning Ian Miller of Florida State…..

Alot of people might ask,how can a guy that doesnt start, has been injured for most of the season and averages less than 3 assists a game be a considered a lottery pick?

Scouts are very high on him, some see the same type of growth that Westbrook had…And if he’s healthy and decides to come out,i think he’ll be the 1st point guard selected, toward the late end of the lottery…..

    1) Scott Machado – anyone know why he’s ranked so low on nbadraft.net?

    2) Shabazz Napier – haven’t watched many of his games, but have been surprised many times when skimming through boxscores. Definitely a sleeper.

    3) Aaron Craft – I wanted to say Boatright but Aaron Craft seems to be getting less shine so I guess he’s more of a sleeper…

Here are a few more guys i think are sleepers..

1.Scott Machado finally seems to be getting recognize…

    2.Keala King-Arizona State

    3.Dee Bost-Mississippi State

4.Nate Wolters-South Dakota St…Good size for a pg 6’3..His shifty ball handling allows him to get any where he wants on the floor and a great shooter…

5.Ray McCallum -Was a big time recruit ,but went to Detroit University to play for his dad..But people think he’ll be a backup pg, he’s a old school pg in the Andre Miller mold, not really quick, but knows when and where a teammate needs the ball……

The next Jeremy Lin. Seriously, I think Linsanity is going to have a great influence on this year’s draft. Teams going to look for high production guys even if they aren’t with the strongest program. Keep an eye out for that.

     1. Scott Machado-  The best PG in college basketball right now.  He’s leading the nation in assists while also averaging over 12ppg and shooting 43% from 3.  He’s also a great penetrator that has enough speed to keep up with pro PG’s.  The most pro ready PG in the draft.

    2.  Nate Wolters- Putting up big numbers for a small time school.  He has great size at 6’4 and dropped 34 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists in a win over Washington.  Also had good games against Minnesota and Georgia proving he can hang with the big boys.

    3. Ray McCullum- Big time prospect playing for his father at a small time school.  Nice but not great athlete who was in the McDonald’s All American dunk contest.  Has very good ball handlings skills and knows how to run a team with poise.  He’s was labeled as a pure PG coming into college but at Detroit Mercy has had to share more of a scoring load which he is excellent at.  Has a sweet stroke but his best asset is his ability to get into the lane with crafty moves.

    4. Ryan Boatwright-  Not sure if his best position is PG but this kid is a great athlete who knows how to ball.  Extremely fast with the ball in his hands and has a knack for scoring and long range on his jumpshot.  He uses his athleticism very well getting steals and rebounds.

    5. Maalik Waynes-  I actually wanna put Wayns 2nd on this list.  A tough and speedy Philly guard whose cut from the same mold as Kyle Lowry.  ‘Nova is having an off year as Jay Wright is struggling coaching a team full of freshman who don’t have defined positions.  Despite all the youth and lineup changes Wayns is playing the best basketball of his life.  His game is based on power and speed.  He’s a rock solid chiseled 6’2 with superb quickness that makes his tough to guard when he get’s going.  His ball handling is built more for Rucker Park which get’s him in trouble sometimes, and his shot selection is just plain bad.  He’s attempting five 3’s a game and only hitting just over one.  But he also attempting 5.5 FT’s a game and is hitting 5, so he’s shooting 90% from the charity stripe which is evidence that if he takes better shots his FG% will sky rocket.  But you shouldn’t sleep on this kid because he’s as physically talented and skilled a PG as their is in college basketball.  He don’t have great hops but still get’s over 4 rpg and his teammates can’t make open shots for nothing but he’s still a good passer who get’s 4.5 apg.   Will be a 2nd round steal this year, but if he stays he’ll move into the middle of the 1st round with a great SR. year.

Pierre Jackson has to be #1 for the simple fact he came from a JUCO, and argubaly is the most consitent player on a Baylor team who once was rated in the top 5.

All in all Jackson is still only averaging 13ppg and 6apg and he has a ton of single digit scoring games where the Bears will still win easily because they are so deep.  The depth of their team is also one of the main reasons he’s allowed to score so efficient because defenses are so keyed on Perry Jones and Quincy Miller plus Heslip.

But none of that means Jackson is a great draft prospect.  I think he’s a sleeper who can see success coming off the bench in the NBA but he’s not going to be a high draft pick and he doesn’t have the potential to start in the league.

Not necesarily, maybe at the beginning of the year you could use that as an argument, that Jackson is allowed to score efficently because of all the weapons, note Jackson is the SECOND leading scorer on the team, FIRST in assist, and FIRST in steals, and FIFTH in rebounds, and also shoots 43% from 3 and 46% from the field!

Mind you he’s a JUCO transfer!

Not only does he score, he can dish as well, he took Waltons spot, so that saying something in itself, and also PJ3 sucks right now and has been off and on all year, Quincy Miller is a big time prospect but also has been of and on as well, Jackson has to, as you’ve pointed out his single scoring games, but Jackson does more than just score.

    Jackson’s single scoring games:

    8pts, 4rebs,4ast,3stls

    7pts,9ast,4rebs

    7pts,5rebs,4ast

    8pts,9ast

    9pts,7ast,6rebs

That’s still pretty solid for a PG playing on a stacked team.

Now let’s look at some of his biggest games:

    18pts,8ast

    11pts,11ast

    20pts,15ast

    25pts,6ast

    23pts,4ast,5rebs

    18pts,8ast,5stls

Not to mention solid games of 11pts,16pts,18 pts etc.

I’m not saying he is a great NBA prospect, but he is a NBA prospect, his athleticism is off the charts for a guard his size, and next year with a bigger role who knows he may have an even bigger year than he is now.

Shabazz Napier is the best defensive PG out of the PGs that is listed, probably the best defensive PG in the nation period. His offense is now starting to catch up and is now a possible 1st round prospect. I like him alot.

Yeah Jackson was the number one JUCO prospect in the country and now he’s a seasoned JR playing on a team with a lot of talent.  And I’m a Baylor fan so I can tell you taking Walton’s spot was not hard he is a terrible PG.  Walton stinks, he has no court vision and he takes really bad shots.  He’s like the Larry Drew of Baylor.  I like Jackson he is a special talent, that 3 against Texas A&M was so clutch especially considering he was bricking shots all night.

But in making a list of sleeper PG prospects I chose to leave Jackson off because I’m not sure how his game will translate plus he’s starting for a top 10 team I wanted to throw names out there that aren’t playing on ESPN every week.

And have you guys watched Napier lately that dude stinks.  He has no idea how to run a team and takes some of the worse shots I ever saw this side of Jordan Crawford.  He’s shooting 39% for the year and most of the games he puts up big numbers in UConn loses.  He put up 27 on Cincy and the Huskies lost.  He scores 6 points against Seton Hall and ‘Nova and the Huskies won.

And just off the top of my head Dion Waiters, Pierre Jackson, Tyshawn Taylor, Dion Dixon, Tony Wroten, Myck Kabongo, Ian Miller, and Maalik Wayns are all better defenders then Napier who has no idea how to grind out wins for his team.

You make no sense saying you wanted to throw names out there that’s not on ESPN every week.

Um you are aware that Maalik Wayns is someone you listed as a sleeper, and he’s really not, dude’s been pegged lottery last two years after failing to meet expectations, Wayns is not a sleeper hell the scouts know more about Wayns than Pierre Jackson I guarantee you that.

Did you forget Wayns was a McDonald’s AA?

That he’s played in the last 2 NCAA tourney’s?

Or are you new to college basketball?

Hell Ray Mccallum is also known more by scouts than Jackson as he was a McDonalds AA and highly touted and gained even more attention going to his father’s school.

Weak excuse, give Pierre his credit.

Yes I am aware of Waynes track record he’s from my city and went to the rival of my alma matta Roman Catholic so I’ve followed him his whole career because of that and I love his game plus he looks like one of my favorite rappers Canibus.  But seriously Wayns has fell from grace.  He use to be slated as a mid first rounder last year but he came back and ‘Nova is sticking up the Pavillion.  So now he’s not anywhere near the first round of mock drafts.  I think he might be in the end of the 1st round next year but that’s on hell of a fall.  But when was the last time college commentators praised Wayns game?  They haven’t because his team hasn’t been playing well.  I mentioned Wayns to remind people that he’s still a seriously talented PG who has enough talent to start in the league.

And what I mean was I wanted to stray away from the more highly profiled players THIS YEAR.

When was the last time you saw Detroit Mercy play on TV?  McDonalds All American or not there are a ton of people who don’t know who Ray McCullum is.  And I am talking about casual sports fans.  Nobody talks about him nor will they ever talk about him unless he leads his team to a deep tourney run which is highly unlikely.  Go look at where Ray is ranked on big boards.  And since I know you know your basketball and know Ray’s game tell me that if he didn’t attend a higher profile college like Michigan, G’Town, or Duke just to name a few, that he wouldn’t be widely considered a mid 1st round lock.  He would start on all them teams.  Everybody is talking about Trey Burke as a sleeper but Ray McCullum is a better PG prospect then Burke is.  That’s why he’s a sleeper in my eyes.

I threw out names that the casual basketball fans aren’t talking about and avid fans like us are overlooking.

And I’m a Baylor fan so I’m not taking any credit away from Jackson if that;’s what you think.  But I actually watch Baylor’s games and when I do he is by far the most talked about player on that team.  The commentators talk about Jackson more then Miller and Jones combined.  He’s turning into a household name.  He’s hitting game winning 3 pointers on ESPN for crying out silently.  He has a huge buzz right now.  That’s not exactly what I consider a sleeper.

And believe it or not I honestly feel like Pierre Jackson has been the most impressive PG in college this year right alongside Tyshawn Taylor.  Other PG’s are putting up better numbers, but they are putting up great numbers that were unexpected of them.

And to break it down even more simple for you.  I named PG’s who are not considered 1st round picks by anyone but in my eyes should all be considered 1st round picks.  Ryan Boatwright I named because IMO he could possibly be the 2nd best prospect on that Uconn team besides Drummond.  At worse Ryan Boatwright is certainly better then Napier who everybody is talking about.

I understand where your coming from but at the same time Jackson is still a bigger sleeper than all of them for the NBA.

Ryan Boatright,Maalik Wayns,Ray Mccallum are ALL listed in a mock draft whether it’s on Nbadraft.net or Draftexpress.com for 2012 or 2013.

Now can you find me one LEGIT website that has Pierre Jackson on a mock draft whether it’s 2012 or 2013?

    I’ll wait………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

    Nope you wont.

But I guarantee you will find the guys you listed as "sleepers" before you find Jackson.

Yeah I mean you’re right about that but most of that is because like you explained he’s a JUCO kid who just burst onto the national scene out of nowhere.  Scouts and everybody else are still trying to get a feel on how high he should be considered.  If a team likes him the last thing they want to do is starting singing his praises and watch him sky rocket up the drafts boards too high for his team to draft.

He’s gonna eventually pop up on boards, he’s way too good not too but where to put him is the question.  His size is a big red flag tho he’s got the athleticism to make up for it.

When it’s all said and done I think Jackson will be a 1st round lock.  I’m not sure how high but hell go 1st round for sure.  He reminds me of Eric Bledsoe who can actually shoot, well.  Remenber it took sites awhile to put Westbrook on draft boards too.
