Big Knick mistake

I know it'd early in the game, but so far Corey Brewer has 6 pts 3 ast. I can see him putting up at least a solid 15 pts for the game. After all he is better then every SG on the Knicks roster not named Landry Fields. Was it a big mistake for New York to give up on Brewer without even giving him a shot? Another thing I see a little similarity in the frame with Brewer & DerMarr Johnson. Is Brewer what Johnson was suppose to be?

Corey Brewer is just as good

Corey Brewer is just as good as Landry Fields ust not in Dantoni's system. From what I heard dantoni didnt think he would fit into the sstem very well. Anyways I think Brewer is a qaulity basketball player, and the Knicks cant be giving away qaulity basketball players that easily. I mean at least give him a qaulity oppurtunity to get worked into the system.

idk why

idk why we let him go. he would have been a key defensive player to stop a star player in the playoffs. i think dantoni knew he wasnt ganna play him so he let him go out of respect. idk it watever now time to move on

They will live to regret giving up on Corey Brewer and Anthony Randolph.

I've said it before. Corey

I've said it before. Corey Brewer isn't good. He does nothing for you on offense and his defense is overrated. He is an above average defender and he tries hard. That's it. If the Knicks kept him they wouldn't all of a sudden be a much better team.

knicks dont want anyone who plays d i guess

it must be a rule in knick land not to have players who actually put up a max effort on d great pick up for dallas theyd been needing a wing to help off set butlers being out for the year cuban should send the knicks a gift for releasing brewer

Every player is not a great

Every player is not a great for their system. I will admit so moves they have made were questionable but the brewer one not so much.

Corey Brewer is a very solid

Corey Brewer is a very solid player. He is a tight defender, a pretty explosive athlete (see dunk on Fisher), a solid rebounder, and his offense, particularly his J, improved drastically last year. Towards the end of last year, he was putting up 20 point games relatively often and was hittin the 3 ball.

I just dont understand why he wasnt atleast given a shot in NY. Hes a hell lot better than the majority of that roster.

Dermarr was more offensively

Dermarr was more offensively polished the Brewer and not as defensive minded. He was actually one of my favorite players before he broke his neck I thought he was gonna be some body to look too maybe a Paul Pierce type. I just went back and look and this site compared him to Pippen.

After they cut him they

After they cut him they signed Derrick Brown? a defensive minded SF who has proved less the Brewer.

Personally I'd have kept

Personally I'd have kept Brewer over Derrick Brown and Balkman even if they wanted to bring Jared Jeffries back. Still Brewer has got a 3 year deal on a good team so hopefully he can stick at Dallas and build on his career so far.

Walker, Williams, Maso,

Walker, Williams, Maso, Balkman are all lesser players than Brewer IMO. Fields might have a bit of a edge since he is only a rook but they should have kept Brewer especially when they just go and sign Brown then.

I live in Minnesota and I've

I live in Minnesota and I've seen him play numerous times. Did he deserve a shot in NY? Sure. But he isn't near Landry Fields and he isn't even solid. Ask the Minnesota fans (who are happy he is gone) how he has played. I mean seriously how good can you be when T-Wolves fans don't want you??? Say what you want but other then trying hard on D which makes him above average at it and being athletic what does he give you? His jump shot might have improved but it's still mediocre at best. Dude is a career 8th man for any decent team if that.

I am a T-Wolves fan, and he

I am a T-Wolves fan, and he is a very solid player. With the minutes he got this season he was playing well. His D is well above average. He was arguably our 4th option as a scorer and played very well at the end of the season.

I won't disagree he improved

I won't disagree he improved last year more than any other season in his career by far. But I don't think he has improved at all from last year.He isn't efficient and isn't a shooter. He is best used as a defender off the bench. And he isn't a guy who will lock up Durant or Kobe. As I am also a fan of the T-Wolves and watch them frequently.

Fan... No one's gonna lock

Fan...

No one's gonna lock down Kobe or Durant...not in today's game. But I will agree with you he really hasnt improved since last year. Maybe I don't see the improvement b/c he isnt playing as much, but i still think he holds his own as an NBA player. Most teams in the league would be happy to have his services IMO.

I don't disagree with that

I don't disagree with that statement either. I just think people are getting carried away with Brewer. Some people seem to suggest he is a top 10 defender in the NBA and that is simply not the case. Would I take him for my team? Of course I would, but he isn't going to start and will probably get at or under 20 mpg for me. He is as suggested above, a defensive player off the bench. He isn't going to put the Mavs over the top, and wouldn't have done so for the Knicks.
