I really thought in the offseason the signing of Al Jefferson was an underrated acquisition.  He did start the season out kind of poor, but has been on a tear as of late.  Throughout his career he has been a very consistent player and I really think he is an underrated defender.  He has become a solid shot blocker, has pretty good bounce and get up and he usually holds his own in his post defense.  Don’t get me wrong he’s no Tyson Chandler but he is not as bad on defense as he is made out to be.  Through my years watching him on the Wolves I noticed this.  I was absolutely pissed when Kahn said that him and Kevin Love were unable to play together.  I know he is a tad bit undersized as a center but has played center everywhere.  With him staying on the block and protecting the rim some he would compliment Love very well.  It worked out okay having Pek but dumping him for a 2nd rd pick was pure stupidity.  The Bobcats got a ways to go but getting a player like Al for less than max money was a good start.  Still wondering where this team is going with the continued underperforming draft picks; Henderson has been solid nothing special, Biyombo was a terrible pick, Kidd-Gilchrist deserves more time but has been disappointing, Zeller the same.  This team has got to start drafting better to improve.  I like Jefferson and Walker though.

He is having the exact same career arc as Corey Magette. He has always been good enough to demand big money and be a number one option for a NON playoff team. He’s not good enough to lead his team into any type of title contention and he’s unwilling to take a pay cut, which means he will continue to put up big numbers until he retires without ever winning a playoff series.

He doesn’t have to "lead" his team.  He is a great number two option and with the money the Cats are paying him he is a number two.  I just feel he is an under appreciated ball player, and with what he brings to the table for the ammt of money he is being paid he can be a valuable piece.  Magette never had the consistency Al had, also Magette shredded his knee several more times than Al.

He was on my Jazz during a painful time period (losing Sloan, DWill, etc.) and many people wanted him gone to let the young guys develop (myself included). But Al was ALWAYS a class act. He’s one of few ex-Jazz players that received cheers when he came back. He’s a very good player who has managed to stay modest and have a sense of humor about himself. I hope nothing but great things for him.

Has been a blessing to my fantasy team after I picked him up on a low ball trade while he was struggling

Very underrated player,double-double machine and 1 of the 3 best post scorers in the league..Even though they had athletic youngsters Kanters and Favors in waiting…Its a shame Utah let both him & Millsaps walk away without getting anything in return….

Big Al’s problem is that after 9 years in the league he still havent figured out defensive schemes….
