its my opinion but i don’t feel like harrison barnes is a superstar caliber player. He is solid all around but i haven’t seen a superstar in him. I feel like he’ll be more along the lines of Brandon Roy and Joe Johnson. Perry Jones on the other hand, I think has that superstar within him as he has much more potential but i’m not really sure if he will reach his potential as a superstar. I guess its a matter of preference, if you want to play it safe, I think you take Harrison Barnes but if you want to gamble for a superstar, I think you go Perry Jones. Of course, right now I think Perry Jones has too much risk to take over the safety of Barnes as the number 1 pick.

i feel the opposite perry jones is not superstar caliber type player. hes too raw doesnt really do anything well. hes just really tall for his competition. on the other hand barnes is refining his skillsets and he is showing alot of confidence.

i agree that Jones has more Potential but unless He shows something this season i would still go with Barnes cause i’ll take a Brandon Roy / Joe Johnson Type over Anthony Randolph / Darius Miles…
and i kind of like Irving but havent seen enough of him to make a statement…

Right now Barnes is the better prospect and a player you can build your team around….however if Perry Jones reaches his POTENTIAL hes going to be a beast…players with his sizie and ability doesnt come around that often.

Kyrie Irvin Vs B.Knight i dont see any of them being a franchise player. Irvin can become a second  tier superstar.

but i would choose irvin over B.Knight

K.Irvin at best: CP3 but not quite as him……At Worst: TJ Ford

B.Knight At Best: Tyrek Evans type player…At Worst quicker Mo Williams

I’ll tell you players with Jones size and mobility. Durant. Tim Thomas, Rashard Lewis, Eddie Griffin (rip), Anthony Randolph, Kevin Garnett, Lamar Odom, Chris Bosh, Lamarcus Aldridge, Marvin Williams. I dont wanna here about "how rare his size and speed is". Its not, theres a player ever 2 or 3 drafts thats 6’10-6’11 with a big wingspan and 33+ vert. A lot of the time they play in the post. What seperates players is there skills and play. Jones has proven less on both accounts.

This guy to me is Marvin Williams all over again.

And if Harrison Barnes is going to not be a superstar, but be a top 3 player at his position, how good do you honestly think Jones is going to be to warrant being drafted ahead of him? Because If you honestly thing hes gonna drop 24-10-5, youve already bought into the hype and there is no hope for you. Even Beasley showed more skill, polish and intensity in high school. Jones is going to have to really up his consistancy, or he’ll look like randolph, floating on the perimeter with nothing to do when he doesnt have the ball.

Honestly, Barnes is such a better basketball player, its a little offensive to the obvious about of work Barnes puts in relative to Jones, who remember, insists he plays SF. Thats another thing. I dont care if your 6’11 and say you arent a center. Fine. But not a power forward? Completely adverse to the post? Getting nitpicky about your role? Damn…

Knight/Irving is far more interesting because they’re so close talent wise. Honestly, I like Knights games a whole lot, at this moment. At the high school level he looked like Westbrook if he had more range and consistancy. But as Irving showed in his first game, he a pretty complete player. Theyre both going to have some monster games. I’ll be interested in seeing who gets more of them.

I would not gamble on him over Barnes right now though. Might think about it if Perry averages 16pg 10reb 4ass and 1.5 blocks.

Right now, I dont see superstar in any of them. Not taking anything away from any of them but I believe Barnes and Irving can be really really good players. It also depends on what you define as superstar.

I see Irving as the closest to becoming one in the NBA.

Perry has too much Anthony Randolph for me. Dominates inferior competion and his size/athleticism makes him look better than what he is.

Barnes doesnt have the bounce/quickness in his game. A great basketball player not great athlete, just a good one.

Those guys are not only the two safest picks, but they are the two best players in the draft to me. Harrison Barnes does not have the physical attributes of Perry Jones, but he plays the game at a much higher level in almost every aspect. Barnes basketball IQ is so impressive, and while Jones is undoutedly taller than he is and may be a better athlete in coordination with his size, I have a feeling that Barnes might indeed be the better of the two as far as speed and vertical capability. The guy is not a slouch as far as being an athlete, he has shown time and time again that he can score in a number of different ways and he just seems to have an aggression to his game that Perry Jones has not shown. Perry Jones is a rare physical specimen, like those other players Mkadoza mentioned, but has he shown even close to the ability of Kevin Durant? Will he bring the level of intensity of Kevin Garnett? Or, will he just be that skilled, talented, underachiever, like Tim Thomas and Marvin Williams? Either way, you can take a chance on him in the lottery, but not over Barnes, who is just the flat out better player. Harrison Barnes to me is a guy who you could possibly build a team around, we will see if that is what he turns out to be down the line, but I see Perry Jones being a complimentary player rather than a leader, which I think is what Barnes will be.

With the Irving and Knight thing, I think a lot of it tends to be sort of the same dynamic. Kyrie Irving is the guy you want to run your team. He is a winner, has a great basketball IQ and there is a reason he is seen as being the better PG prospect of he and Knight. Knight might be the better scorer of the two, he is probably even a better run and jump athlete, but I think Irving has a vision that Knight more than likely will never have. When people compare Brandon Knight to Tyreke Evans, which I think is lofty, I do not find that to be a great comparison for a guy who does not have the strength, length or size of Evans. I see Tyreke Evans eventually being a SG down the line, and I do not think I would want Knight being my shooting guard and primary offensive player. Irving on the other hand, is a guy I could see making everyone he plays with a lot better and being a true team leader. I could be way off, but I just see the leadership and passion that Barnes and Irving play with and see them being the best players in this upcoming draft. I know Knight is a great student, and he will more than likely have to lead this Kentucky team, but I doubt that his game translates into the NBA success of Irving. Jones, to me, is a long ways away from being close to Harrison Barnes, and to people who see Kevin Durant/Tracy McGrady, just know that those two guys did much more against their peers that Jones has done thus far.

A good NBA athlete with great skill can still become a star. See Paul Pierce.

Basically this is how it gies with fans

If you are tall (6’10) with some handles or very athletic then you’re potential is higher then someone shorter and who’s not the same athletically (basically high jumper)

But think about all the top players other then lebron   Anthony Randolph is the same height as durant and more athletic but durabt is clearly the better player

Deandre Jordan is more athletic then Kevin love but love is better

Marvin Williams taller the beasly but beasly is better

McGee is around the same height and more athletic then brook lopez and Noah but Noah is better

Eventually some fans will understand that players who are more skilled have more potential because they are 10x more likely to reach there potential

How many guys have been considered raw with low skills but are great athletes end up reaching there potential fans place upon them?
