Mr. HookShotParticipantI am quite surprised some of these small-stature PGs are not picked, guys like Jahii Carson, Deonte Burton, and Bryce Cotton. I think in the right situation these three guys can definitely have an impact as a spark-plug of the bench (a la Robinson/Barea). Also surprised Khem Birch (he is a really good big man defender; usefull for most teams I guess (Clippers?)) and Jordan Bachynski where not picked, although I see Toronto bringing in Bachynski (being Canadian) as part of their summer league.

OhCanada-ParticipantThese are some high end prospects that went undrafted. Mcadoo’s body alone. Birch and his defensive presence although needs to polish skills and body. Makes the Summer League process interesting.

ditotayParticipantbelieve Noah didn’t press the Bulls to take Patric Young with that second round pick. I know he is not the best prospect, but with a glaring need in the back-up center position and with Jo as a mentor he could develop into a nice rotation player. He is very strong.

SwatLakeCityParticipantI wonder if players are actually allowed in the war room? I doubt they are. No doubt, they have their thoughts about who they would like to have, but I think in the end they are forced to watch it live either in Brooklyn or on TV just like everyone else. Some players are unbelievably stupid at selecting talent, and mostly every team would rather have a team ran by a player, instead of a franchise ran by a player. What I mean by a team ran by a player, is when 1 player is chosen as the captain of the team, and he is star that the rest of the team of the follows suit and plays off of him. A franchise ran by a player is when a player on the team not only leads the team on the court but also off the court and in future drafts by telling the team to draft player A or I am leaving, and that’s not what a team/ or even a franchise wants down the road. I can see why that would be a valuable thing for a player to want(maybe when he’s retired ala MJ, but for a different team), but in the end I think I’d rather be the guy that runs the team instead of the guy that runs the franchise. I’ll leave selecting the complimentary players to the GM’S and whoever else is invited in the war room, and I’ll just sit back, watch, and enjoy the suspense that is the NBA Draft.

nill650Participantmany of the usual american mid major conference college prospects that are usualy future role players and nothing more got snubbed in favor of intl. stash projects in the 2nd half of the 2nd.
I was not surprised at most of these not quite making it, because the american players can find places on summer league rosters anyway.I am sure that players that were overated out of highschool and never met those expectations like james mcadoo, patric young, jahii carson etc will get into the d-league this yr.others like Brice cotton,Langston galloway,Javon McCrea,Jerian Grant,Burton,Ejim,Kane,Fair,Birch.Moser,Kirk,Behanan,Reddic,Wilbekin,Moreland,Collier,Craft,Beamon,Appling,Black,Ross,Prather,Sampson,Bachinski and the biggest shocker not drafted sean killpatrick will all still get chances overseas and a few will work there way through the d-league.0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/27/2014 - 4:06am #928687

Jester87ParticipantI’m surprised nobody mentioned Jabari Brown, I had him in the late first/early second round of my mock for big part of the season.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantIf you’re already a fringe draft pick then workouts can really really hurt you. Also hurts if you were the focal point of you’re college offense but you don’t really do anything else near a elite level because once you’re in the NBA you aren’t going to be the focal point or even the fourth option so you have to be able to contribute something near a elite level. What does C.J Fair or P.Young do? Young is a center who was a below average rebounder even in college. Fair isn’t much of a shooter and no one knows for sure about his defense because the Cuse play zone. Having a bad history or age can hurt as well. These guys will be on NBA summer leagues though and I’m sure some will make a vet camp

Jester87ParticipantYoung can’t do much on offense, but he’s an elite defender, terrific on the pick and roll (which is very important in todays Nba), does all the little things, he’s an high character guy. He can be a taller version of Chuck Hayes. I think he will find a spot. Worst case scenario he makes a great 11-12th man because of his work ethic and character.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantIs he a elite defender? I can’t really think of any big who had offense that he shut down or held to a very low Fg percentage. I think its possible he can try to do what chuck Hayes did but I think he ends up overseas like Joey Dorsey who was the same player but better rebounder or the kid from Baylor who used to dunk everything about two years ago who’s name escapes me

Jester87ParticipantHe had a few great games against Randle, Embiid, O’Bryant. Also defense it’s not all about shutting down your assignment, Young is a very good pick and roll defender, can show very well on guards (UConn won the game against Florida when they chose not to involve Young in pick and rolls) and has great awareness and timing for rotations, though he’s never going to be a shot blocker. The only knock on him it’s his poor rebounding rate.
Again, I’m not saying he’s going to be a starter and there are good chances he never becomes a full time rotation player, I’m just saying he has a very good chance to make a roster and to stick for a few years, at least as a 11-12th guy on a roster because of his character. Of course he might as well end up playing overseas, he might prefer to play more there rather than being just a good locker room presence in the Nba. He could do well in Europe, especially considering the fact that many european teams shows and switch against the pick and roll more than most of the Nba teams do and his lack of size would be less of a concern.

gobullzParticipantDj Augustine is probably leaving, and Jahii Carson should be a steal should he sign with Da Bulls. McAdoo would also be a nice addition. We missed with tony snell(so far), not understanding why we drafted another Lobo.
