Lotto StudParticipantA lot of things are discussed when we speak on prospects skills, but one quality that I am big on the most never gets brought up, and that’s the mid-range shot. I know there may be guys that I haven’t seen to analyze, but so far the guy who is the best mid-range shooter to me is Joshua Langford out of Michigan State.
If you disagree, who comes to mind for you?

True_JafiParticipantKevin Knox. Reminds me of a taller Rip Hamilton (and granted I havent seen everybody. Pretty sure there someone at a mid major or lower D1 program who mid-range is crazy)

SubZeroParticipantHis floater from the right short corner is money. Doesn’t matter if someone’s in front of him or not, it’s usually going in

properbreaksParticipantAs soon as you said best mid range shooter the only name that came to mind was Joshua Langford. It’s easily his strongest part of his game. The funny thing is that they played Syracuse today and the best way to beat them is with the midrange shot because that’s where the hole in the zone is.
I just saw that they lost. I was watching the game earlier in the first half and they couldn’t make anything. It was a horrible game to watch, and that’s just the way that Boehim likes it. (lol) I assume Langford didn’t have that great of a game. When Jackson got the ball inside he had no clue of what to do before you have to make a quick move and Bridges had no in between game.

Lotto StudParticipant“Syracuse is giving Michigan State the mid-range shot all day and they refuse to take it. Izzo needs to make an adjustment and have Joshua Langford flash the middle because he is the best mid-range shooter on the floor.“

Sewok15ParticipantThomas Welsh will hit 17 foooters all day if left open…He can’t really create his own shot but the question was the best mid range shooter not the best mid range game….they are two very different answers.

GBeeParticipantJalen Brunson, easy. He shoots a lot from mid and hits em at a 53% clip which is exceptional. Mid-range shooting isn’t as valuable of a skill anymore at the next level, but it can be for PnR ball-handlers, which if Brunson makes it and sticks in the league will be one of the few translatable skills he’ll have.

Dog_ShammdogParticipantKeita Bates-Diop has a complete mid-range game and crazy long arms that make his shot really hard to block. He has a really nice touch offensively and actually has more wiggle as a ball handler than you’d think. I believe the extra spacing in the NBA could help him show that part of his game at the next level. But his mid-range jumper is nice off the dribble, facing up, posting up and off the catch and shoot.

OhCanada-ParticipantI have to agree with Keita Bates Diop. This is one of the reasons I think he will not have success in the NBA. He gets alot of high post plays called for him where he backs into the defender in order to create enough space to get a clean jumper off. He is also taller and longer than most defenders at this level so once he gets a legs worth of space he doesnt need to fade away on his midrange shot he can just shoot right over an extended arm. Although in the NBA I dont think very many teams will have a use for this skill, not many teams even have much use for skilled pst players anymore. His calling card will have to be his defence/length and 3pt shooting like everyone else these days.

Dog_ShammdogParticipantSolid observations. I believe his ball handling will be paramount when it comes to his success at the next level. He’s a very fluid athlete for his size with good dexterity, coordination, speed, quickness etc. If he can show the ability to attack closeouts of the dribble, and not just with a pump fake and one dribble pull up, he could be a dynamic offensive player. His touch and natural scoring ability are legit and his size and wingspan are ideal for an NBA 3, although right now I’d have him projected as more of a power forward. If he shows up to the combine taking ppl off the dribble and leading grabbing defensive rebounds and going coast to coast, I believe he could have a Kuzma-esque combine where he sees his stock take off.

WalkaFlockaParticipantJerome Robinson from BC is the best midrange shooter. Can just put it in the bucket in so many ways from the mid-range. Unbelievable footwork from the midrange too. Too bad we didn’t get to see him in the NCAA tourney.
Think he’s being underrated as a draft prospect too – 6’6 combo who was second in ACC POY, averaged 23 ppg in conference, dropped 46 on ND.

ShuttlesworthParticipantHe is a sniper from mid-range and shot 41% from 3 this year. Super underrated, and has a chance to develop into a first round pick in 2019 with added strength, defensive awareness and ball-handling. The dude just gets buckets…reminds of a former Eagle in Jared Dudley— another mid-range all-timer.
