Best Course Of Action For The Fading Lakers

If I'm the Lakers, I would gladly sign and trade Dwight Howard to the Rockets in the Summer, for some young pieces and draft picks in return...Trade Gasol to team with young assets/draft picks, looking to improve, ala the Bobcats...With one of those draft picks, I would draft Steven Adams, out of Pittsburgh..Make a hard push to sign the Pacers's free agent, Lance Stephenson, this Summer, because he's the cheapest shooting guard they can get with tons of potential, to be all-star player one day...Stephenson could be the successor to Kobe, at shooting guard after he retires..And with Kobe out for probably half the 2013-2014 season, the Lakers would lose a lot of games, putting them in great position to land a high lottery pick, to draft either prized choices in Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker, Marcus Smart, Julius Randle, or etc

Why would the Lakers sign a shooting guard like Stephenson who cant shoot? A lack of outside shooting and defenders were 2 of their weak spots......

Stephenson Is A Rarity

If u haven't noticed the shooting guard position is getting instinct of big wings with size, who can break you off the dribble, make plays, and post up...Only Kobe, Jr. Smith, DeRozen, Tyreke Evans, and Stephenson fits this category, other them the league is filled with undersized combo guards ala D-Wade, Eric Gordon, Monta Ellis, Bradley Beal, Dion Waiters, and etc...Shooting is teachable, once Stephenson learns how to shoot, he'll be the 20 point scorer in the NBA...He's that talented

Im pretty sure that the

Im pretty sure that the bobcats wouldnt want to give away young talent in order to improve their record by just a few games by getting gasol. As for Dwight Howard he is great, the only problem is Mike D'antoni doesn't know how to coach your team. Having a triangle offence style gameplay would benefit dwight so much more. LA has the wrong players for the coach's system and vice versa. + D'antoni isn't exactly the type of coach that boosts the lockeroom chemistry. I don't know about u but why would Lance stephenson go to play for a team like the lakers when he fits so perfectly with Indiana which is a powerhouse. There is no way la is getting any of those phenom draftees. THey're going into the twilight zone for a while before seeing the light. You have a team full of old guys, and not enough young players. But at the same time you have a talented squad which could get a reasonable ranking. Perhaps not playoff bound but who knows!

The Lakers can win -- if they

The Lakers can win -- if they have one of the top four centers ever like Wilt, Kareem, and Shaq. They can also win if they have a top five guard of all time (in their prime) like Jerry West, Magic, and Kobe.

Other than that, the Lakers don't really win much.

Remember the Van Exel, Eddie Jones, Vlade, Elden Campbell, and Cedric Ceballos Lake Show years?

Nothing they can really do.

Nothing they can really do. At least not yet anyway. They HAVE to keep Dwight, Kobe wont play forever and they never hit big on their draft picks. They reload in the free agency with top players.Thats how they got their 17 titles. They'll eventually get another high-impact all-star in LA next to Dwight. And trade Pau Gasol for whatever you can get for him. His production dropped mightily this year, his stock is dropping fast.

Age

Is the Lakers biggest enemy at this point. Nash is basically done, Kobe isn't getting any younger, and World Peace is useless. The Lakers can win, but they need a roster that fits D'Antoni's system. Trading Dwight Howard and Gasol just gets rid of your only quality big men. Trade one or the other, but not both. Either way, right now the Lakers roster is set up as a defensive unit, and needs to look more like Golden State or OKC in order to fit the system. Trade Gasol, and go crazy hard after Bledsoe and Stephenson. Resign Dwight Howard and use him. That gives you guard depth, and Lance can even play some time at the 3, particularly in the D'Antoni system. I feel that team can hurt you both inside and out, can still play tolerable defense, but offensively would be an absolute juggernaut.

Way too high on Lance now a days?

They need way better than him to replace Kobe. Lance is nice off the dribble. He is a slasher. Lance getting 20 a night means bad team.
