Best case scenerio for hawks?

The Hawks are a suprising team this year, but if you are Danny Ferry, is this what you want?

I guess, the team will look attractive to potential FA, but I thought this team wanted to rebuild, and not continue being a playoff team with no ceiling. Also- what are the chances you see D12 and other key FAs going to Atlanta? I can see why Howard has yet to sign an extention in LA, I honestly do not think he's happy there. He wants to be in a winning situation yes, but I dont think he cares much about Hollywood. Even when hes lol and smiling, it looks like hes "acting"...{see what I did there?? :-) }

Paul is the FA that intrigues me....If the Clips are a bonifide conteder, and looks to be one for years, why not sign the extention when the Clips are willing to max you out? Do y'all think hes considering leaving? Or just wants the experience of being courted by other teams?

Who else are other key FAs this year that the Hawks can target? Im thinking Jennings may be a shot too.

What do you all think are the best case scenerios for Atlanta? Here's my opinion:
Howard goes home to play alongside his bff Smith.
Hawks sign Jennings to man the point- Cheaper and I really do not see Paul leaving LA.
Trade Hartford (Teague or Harris) to Indy for Granger and (West or Mahinmi).

Hawks Jennings-D.Stevenson-Granger-Smith-Howard with West or Mahinmi as 6th man.
Indy has Teague or Harris-Hill-George-Hartford-Hibbert (If they bring in Harford, they cannot afford West.)

What do yall think?

Cap Room

I don't think the hawks would have all that money to spend. Smith will demand a max contract, so will howard and then you have two players who expect to make a pretty high salary as well

The way the cap works, when

The way the cap works, when all expiring contracts expires, Atl will have space to sign nearly 2 max contracts, then will have the opportunity to go over the cap to resign Josh Smith. In addition to that, teams that Smith would consider signing with do not have the space to offer him a max anymore ie Houston, Brooklyn. Also- if it meant bringing his buddy Howard to Atl along with another star like Paul, I see all three willing to take a little less money to make it work.

I don't know why they would

I don't know why they would trade Horford. They should look to move Josh Smith ASAP. Just thinking about him on a max contract makes me queasy.

Not sure why you are so

Not sure why you are so concerned with the Hawks if you think Horfords name is Hartford.

I'd rather hear what people

I'd rather hear what people guage as Josh Smith's actual trade value. I've heard a number of 'eh' deals but nothing that really jumped out at me. I know the organization values him quite heavily which is a main reason he hasn't been traded yet...they want a lot back for him.
