EspressoprodigyParticipantI have been watching full games of Simmons for the first time ever and my conclusion is, he is the smartest player I have ever seen at the HS level, along with Kyle Anderson. Albeit both fitting the point forward role, both have totally different games.
Simmons does not only have outstanding court vision, better than most HS PGs (if not all of them), but he understands where he needs to be at all times and where others are going to be before they are even there. It is like watching a NBA seasoned veteran play in HS.
After seeing more than 3 full games, I still have only seen him shoot a couple jumpers. And that is a big question mark. Andrew Wiggins in HS played like that, just abusing the inside game and never settling for jumpers, but once he got to college he had resource to his Jumper, and succesfully so. Time will tell if Simmons can do the same, if he can, he projects as a sure fire NBA allstar and then some.
I would not project Skal above him until I actually see them play in college, the fact that other draft sites are ranking Skal above him doesnt make much sense as Ben will most likely be able to play the PF so he can be considered a ”big” as well.

ChoppyParticipantHis IQ is off the charts. I like the point you made about his just knowing where to be at all times. You can’t teach that. His jumper will be fine, he just hasn’t had to use it that much. His 3pt shot may take a couple of seasons, but with a talent like Simmons you can afford to wait as he does nearly everything else well.

Rip255Will be the best player in college. Should be going straight to the NBA and would have just gone #1 if he could.
LSU vs Krntucky will be the biggest game of the year.

SubZeroParticipantAs a Kentucky fan, I’m incredibly hyped/worried about the playing LSU. Imagine if Martin and Mickey had stayed too

BallGawd01ParticipantI agree with every point you made. He’s like a way more athletic version of Kyle Anderson. I think his jumper needs a lot more work than Wiggins did at the same time though. His jumpers not broken but its not consistent, he doesn’t shoot the same way every time which causes most of his misses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wyz_CnJL_xQ

theballerwayParticipantHes grown a ton on me. I question his jumpshot like others but I think the fact that most collge forwards will have to choose whether to play close and risk the blow by and also open passing angle or sag off. Sagging off should give him ample cushion to get a clean jumpshot off.
Its in transition where I cant wait to see him though. This is where hes gonna shine

immortalone23Participantquestions on his position, he a four(PF) to me. I have concerns on defending the PnR (switching) that’s more of lateral quickness. On offense, I’d like him not to be the primary ball-handler but use him like Blake in LA. I’d like to see Simmons operate in the high post and read the defense. He’s still a really good prospect!
