No, just no. Blake has nice perimeter skills for a big, but nothing like Ben Simmons. Likewise, Simmons is a nice athelete, but isn’t comparable to Blake in that reguard.

I don’t think he’s the athlete or has the physical strength that griffin did, even at the same age. Of all the comparisons I’ve heard, I think Lamar Odom may be the best. He’s not as left hand dominant as Odom was though.

Beasley is the best comparison, but I can see LO in him because of the passing and handling of the ball. Beasley is more talented than Ben. But Ben has major upside with his skills.

Both left-handed and similar measurements. Actual style of play is nothing alike.

Anybody else see similarities to a young Grant Hill?

I like this one a lot! That burst he has in the open court is very reminiscent of Hill. The ability to score, rebound, and pass at a high level. Slightly taller and not quite as bouncy, but I can definitely see it.

I know I’m going to get some flack for this, but he reminds me a lot of Gordon Hayward when he played for Butler. I don’t know if he will be the shooter that Hayward was at that point, but they’re both 6’8 guys, fluid athletes, good rebounders, who can put the ball on the floor and make plays for themselves and their teammates.

Haywards game got more and more perimeter oriented with each year, and I can see Simmons going the same rout as lanes start to open up for him at the next level.

Not a bad comparison and way to go against the grain but I don’t like it because Simmons is expected to be a top 3 pick next year. I’m a jazz fan, yet I know Hayward’s limitations, and he wouldn’t go that high if he were to be drafted again. I was even surprised that he went 9th back in 2010. I’m not going to compare him quite yet, I need to see him play first.

A guy like Andre Igoudala is a better comparison to me, very good all around player, high basketball IQ, good athlete and a good shooter/scorer at around the same height. Also Evan Turner or at least what Evan Turner was projected to be when he went #2 overall.

Simmons might not be done growing and could fill out to 6’10 when it’s all said and done. That’s why it’s so hard to project young bigs especially when they have the perimeter skills like Ben Simmons has.

When I watch him play he reminds me of a more polished, less athletic Tracy Mcgrady…. wait, that sounds like Gordon Hayward. Ok my bad, mgreener_34 had it right. Gordon Hayward everybody.

He will be a point forward, Grant Hills initial potential (pre-injuries) comes to mind, but maybe a bit less athletic, if he can put effort in his shooting and tops his potential he may not have a good players comparison, He may be just Ben Simmons.

I saw him play at the Hoop Summit last weekend and I was blown away by his playmaking ability. He looked (physically) like the best forward there, and played like the best guard. It’s hard to compare him because I think he will be the primary ball handler for his NBA team. The only two guys I’ve seen do that at his size are Lebron and Magic. I don’t presume he will compare favorably with those two, as few ever have. I’m not saying he will be the next Lebron or Magic, but he fits into a unique category of players with that size, ball skills and devotion making.

Griffin was a stronger player than Simmons at a similar age in my opinion. I still like the Lamar Odom crossed with T-Mac comparison. He has Odom’s size but could have the explosiveness and scoring of T-Mac.

I was amazed to discover just how much Simmons has grown and bulked up in the last year, he was initially listed as 6ft 8ins 220lbs but is now listed on here as 6ft 9ins 230lbs and on other sites is listed as 6ft 10ins 239lbs. The last two measurements give him great size to play PF and at SF you’d be looking at a lot of mismatches unless he was against LBJ or say the Greek Freak.

I don’t quite see the Grant Hill comparison either as Grant was more a point forward and had a truly elite basketball IQ. But to be fair I can only recall Grant from his last couple of years at Duke onwards when he was about 20 years old and Simmons is a bit younger than that now.

I really want to see him play for the Spurs. I’m not a Spurs fan per se, and I know they would have to absolutely blow everything up and be horrible next year to get him, which is less than plausible, but I am salivating over what he would look like playing for Popp.

A nightmare for the opposing team once Kyle Anderson is plugged into the rotation.

He is tall athletic can handle it hit the jumper and plays defense and rebounds, his ceiling is high and higher than this guy but isnt another guy quite like him but i say Jeff Green, great skillset not diminating at anything but good at all things, he will be an instant impact with a highc eiling.but the question always is will he get there? But i say Jeff Green.

He has much better handles then Green from a scoring perspective. Also has better rebounding, and playmaking skills, fluidity and feel. Should be able to add more muscle too.

For the record, he measured in at the Nike Hoops Summit at 6’10" and 239lbs as an 18 year old High Schooler just last week.

He could easily be 6’11" and 260 by his 2nd or 3rd NBA season. This isn’t too unlikely as those familiar with his Father who played in Australia will recall that he was an absolute monster (similar physique to DeJuan Blair).

He is definately a better prospect than jeff green onvipusly right now i think green is better and more athletic amd a better shooter. I think simmons will be better but his closest comparison is green, not really kg more perimeter oriented not a wing guy bu bigger than most 3s in the league, jeff green is around 6’10 with those skillsets but simmons definately the better prospect. Maybe green is a poor mans simmons lol
