Simmons, Exum and Thon Maker will be an excellent threesome to build around in about 4 or 5 years. I hope Maker plans on representing Australia. Now we just need someone to convince Kyrie Irving that he is Australian, surely those first 2 years of his life down here meant a lot to him.

It’s a shame Bogut hasn’t been healthy enough for international competition in a while, because Australia actually has pretty damn good size in the current generation, but as always, we lack shot-creators.

The lack of dribble penetration in the Australian game is a joke, the only players in our professional league who attack off the dribble are the imports, which is why they’ve dominated the MVP awards for the duration of the league.

Hopefully Simmons and Exum will represent a new breed of Australian ballers who are more than just shooters and know how to play a more aggressive game that we’ll need in international competition – and to make it in the NBA.

I’m not sure about Maker, he’s tall very young, but we’ll have to see if he can develop properly, I have reservations about Australia’s capacity to develop basketball players, I really do.

I’ve never seen Exum play, so I’m really looking forward to the World Hoop Summit game.

Maker is in the USA playing AAU. So he will be brought along like any US kid with potential.

Simmons has nice physical tools to work with. He’s long with good open court athleticism. The most impressive thing I’ve seen about his offensive game is his passing. His finishing and his shooting in the half court need a lot of work. I’m not a fan of his form, but he’s got time to correct that I’ll also be interested to see how he ends up physically. He’s already starting to fill out and could be in b/t positions right now. I’d prefer to see him stay as a SF because he has potential as a heady, athletic playmaker. Maybe a bit of a point forward.
