He’s far & away the best prospect in this class. We’re comparing him to these guys that aren’t even really ready for the college game yet. They’re still adjusting. He’s still adjusting too, but he’s already dominating so just imagine when he really gets comfortable. He’s a different guy. He’s taller than 6’9/6’10..probably 6’11 (he’s been in pictures with KAT & been the same height). He’s ambidextrous. He plays 1-5. Tha LO comps come from similar heights only. He’s a super sized Grant Hill. Tha way he controls & sees Tha game is on par with a young Kidd or Magic. How are we comparing him to these other guys. He’s the same guy that played against Harden, Davis, etc & did as he wanted & guarded both of them & held his own. Who else is that versatile????? He’s the real thing. He’s the best passer since LBJ & he’s a better rebounder than him. He’s not Tha athlete LBJ is, but he’s still a freak. To be his height & to be that coordinated is freaky. He’s not Kawhi on the defensive end, but he’s versatile enough to guard most 3s & 4s & a few 2s & 5s.

I dnt want the Sixers to get rewarded for tanking…I hope Tha Wolves get Tha first pick & take him. He fits them perfectly because I think Rubio will be traded. That brings in a lineup of Lavine & Wiggins in Tha backcourt & I don’t think anybody in the league could handle them together. Bazz at the 3. BS as the 4. KAT as the 5. Lavine isn’t ready to lead.a team full time so BS can hate responsibility with him.

Interested in you guys’ opinions. Let me know

I’m starting to have doubts.  I was positive about Okafor but now I see their offense stuck in a rut.  Noel and Okafor are playing less well with each other, or they are being exposed with more play.  Stauskas sucks.  Once I saw him play against Jimmy Butler I saw that he doesn’t have NBA size or athleticism, and its followed through every game beyond that point.  His jumper has been atrocious, no chance, he has no legs.  And those guards frustrate Okafor and me.  Okafor feels helpless man.  He is the only scoring option on that team.  Everyone else plays dumb basketball.  Saric apparently is less athletic than we thought.  The only guy who balls out besides Okafor (who plays lazy at times), is TJ McConnell, who is playing really good ball and surprisingly has better legs than most of the Sixers.

So man, to say you don’t want to reward us for tanking, we need a savior.  That whole team needs an antidepressant the way the last two games have gone.  This is why you love Philly fans, because we’ll boo you if you suck or you arne’t giving an effort, and we’ll love you if you are good.  Hopefully these guys get a win so Okafor doesn’t just crumble and not care, because he has that look on his face watching Thompson and Canaan and Sampson and Grant jack up 3s without looking to get him a touch.

Now on SIMMONS.  His help defense is amazing.  The guy is thinking constantly.  I really think thats what sets him apart.  Wathcing him move, he knows exactly where to set himself up on the court, every second it seems.  He could lead the league in triple doubles as a rookie, he is in position to rebound every play.  Especially on the Sixers.  I never seen someone so fast from the 3-point line to the rim.  The defense is kind of helpless.  Even when they crash on him going to the rim, he just kicks it out for a wide open 3.  It was a true pleasure watching him play.  Like I said, watching him do exercises in the gym his body does everything perfect, and thats how he moves on the court.  Most impresses by his help defense, still question the shot, some athleticism (rebounding), and his ability to guard the swingman.  Can’t wait to see him against better talent.

Simmons is not 6’11. I doubt he’s even 6’10 in shoes. probably between 6’9-6’10.

The only evidence of him defending "Harden and Davis" is from Jay Bilas, who isn’t even a proper scout. Not to mention this was at some offseason nike camp against high schoolers which I doubt the best players in the world give 2 shits about.

He is not a better rebounder than LBJ. Simmons is relying atm on his size and athleticism to get rebounds. He rarely boxes out. This wont work against NBA athletes.

Most scouts consider Simmons a good prospect in a bad draft class. They are all laughing at the way ESPN is dickriding and overhyping the crap out of him. Simmons does have some significant weaknesses. He is a tweener because of a poor standing reach which is below average even for a small forward. He probably wont be guarding 4s let alone 5s at the next level. If you watched the game yesterday he got dunked on by some 3 star dude from alabama. He is also average in the half court because of his lack of shooting.

Simmons is a top player in this class but please stop treating him like he is the next Lebron. No, he is not the best prospect since KD. This is by most accounts a weaker draft class, some of you are acting like it’s gonna produce some top 10 all timers.

you are kidding yourself…. Each of the 4 teams in last June’s Lottery tanked the entire 2015 season…. Golden State was tanking their brains out so bad from 2009 thru 2012 that a Portland executive famously flipped out on a Golden State Exec at League Meetings….

As far as Simmons – I really like all the players in the Top 5 – but Simmons is going #1…. ChicagoCasey brought up a great post a few days ago & I’m starting to agree w/ him…..

He posted that If Phila has the #2 pick, they better take Jamal Murray b/c there’s no way he’ll last until #4 or #5 & I agree w/ him….

Simmons is the consensus no.1 overall pick until further notice but the competition after him will be interesting to watch. This is very similar to the Anthony Davis draft where Davis was the consensus no.1 pick but after that is anybody’s guess.

I feel the same way. I think Ingram may be the best option at 2 though. He’s long with guard type skills & he’s the youngest guy in this class I think. I don’t know about the Durant comparisons, but I could see him eventually becoming many thought Darius Miles could be.

But can someone PLEASE point to a player with Ingram’s game and lack of elite skills that did well in the league?  Outside of Paul George (which is an anomaly) there is NO PLAYER in the league that’s done well with Brandon Ingram’s game.   Not one…

KD was elite offensive machine…   And Paul George incline is something that no player in recent history has done..   So, to think Brandon will have that type of success is ridiculous.   I get how he can be enticing, but he has no real value in the league..  The Bucks are still having a hard time with what to do with Giannis.   Someone with a better motor than Brandon.

Can’t shoot or pass like Ingram.

Ingram can do it all, hence everyone saying he is a 2-guard.

So there’s a difference, they both may be lanky, but Ingram is the more skilled player.

I would say their games are similar (ask any Pro-Greek poster on this site), it’s just Brandon look more comfortable handling the ball.

I’ll wait until the end of the year to finally give my thoughts on him, but there’s no need for him currently in the NBA.

I won’t say "by far" or "consensus" yet because it’s WAY too early in the season to claim someone by far the best prospect in the country. He’s having an exellent start to the season, but lets wait to he play real competition and not against McNeese St., South Alabama, and Kennesaw State.

There’s some prospects that can compete for the number one spot and that’s Dragen Bender, Skal Labessiere,  Jamal Murray, Jaylen Brown, and Brandon Ingram. It’s way to premature to claim he’s number one because from what I seen. He’s not seperating from the other elite prospect by his skill set. From what I seen so far is that he scored mostly on fastbreak, ally oops, and backdoor cuts. I want to see more skills from him besides scoring off the fastbreak and using his athletism from scoring.

Don’t get me wrong, I do believe Ben Simmons is the best prospect, right now. I just want to see him play this season out and have him going against Kentucky and other top prospects before saying he’s "by far" the best prospect.

I reactivAted my account just so I can comment on this thread because I saw something that bothered me.. Tuck243 said "The bucks are still having a hard time with what to do with Giannis"…. WHAT?!? He is averaging 18 and 7 on good shooting numbers with 2.5 assist and a steal and a block. Not to mention he is there best on ball defender. I’m just wondering how the Bucks are trying to figure out how to use him because it sounds like they are using him fine so far. Did you not see his 33 point game last night dog

Most of Giannis points are coming from plays that’s not called for him (or when big men are out on him)…  He kills the spacing on the floor and players still go under on screens.   I’ve watched almost every game this year of the Bucks (Jabari fan) and it’s "hard" to figure out how he would fit in an offense (he’s a ball stopper without being able to get where he wants when he wants).   He’s talented, yes, but it’s not like you can rely on him to get a bucket consistently. For the record, both games this year vs the Cavs he played well…  What you mean by the 33 points?  Is that common for him?  No…  The game prior he had 9 and shot terrible…

And by no means am I saying he’s trash.  I said he has a high motor which enables him to play.  But that skill set doesn’t do well in the league.  We’ve seen so many players with similar games/build not find a spot in the league.  Or become busts all together.   Brandon Ingram isn’t skilled enough to not have a motor.  I wouldn’t take a chance on him.

Ingram is a much more talented shooter than Giannis. Way better range, and softer touch from all areas.

I didnt know skill correlates to motor.

        ….because it doesnt….

Thats the equivalent of saying, X player cant play defense because he cant shoot 3s.

I said he isn’t skilled enough to NOT have a motor.  Meaning, he doesn’t have the skill set to go out and score relentlessly without a motor.   Players with that particular skill set (long, handle the rock, no 3pt range, and really a tweener) aren’t that effective in the league.   Giannis is able to work because he has a high motor.  Typically, the only guy like that and was able to improve in a short amount of time is Paul George.   Outside of that guys aren’t as passive as Brandon and make an impact.   His set of skills without a motor does nothing.    Like junk yard dog without a motor wouldn’t made the league.   Same with Noah…

Quincy Miller, Marvin Williams, hell Boris Diaw when he first entered the league, Julian Wright, Al-Faroqu Aminu…..  Etc…   It’s seems like we’ve become enamored with guys like this, but many like them have failed.

For the record, Brandon’s jump shot isn’t great.  He has a decent mid range, but it’s nothing to worry about defensively.   Hence why he’s not shooting it well right now.

Again, I want him to do well…   I just don’t see how he can (especially in the league).   I’m going to wait until the end of the year to have a legit review of him.   But currently he scares me and really overrated.
