gatorheelsParticipantPorbably not yet…they have to prove they can play well consistenlty. I do think both will make the final roster for their team.
Budinger has played well his first two summer league games. He doesn’t do much though except shoot jumpshots. He needs to work on A LOT of things. Personally I don’t think Budinger is going to be a factor in the nba.
Beaubois looked awesome last night. He has long range on his shot. However, he didn’t play well at all in the first summer league game. I expect he will make the Mavs roster for sure though.

JNixonParticipantBeaubois is guaranteed a roster spot being a 1st rounder, and Budinger should get a spot too. I wonder if they will get PT though, because of the depth at the positions they both play. My guess is not immediately

gatorheelsParticipantOh yeah I forgot Beaubois went 1st round.
Yeah I don’t think either one of them will get much playing time if at all. Most nights they probably won’t even dress….won’t crack the top 12.

Knicksboy34ParticipantDont forget about Evans. He had 25-10 and 5….looking good so far.
But to answer your question, Beaubois is probably gonna stay overseas on the count there is no spot for him.
Budinger will play. He will probably be the backup SG.

gatorheelsParticipantI think Jermaine Taylor is better than Budinger. I would give Taylor the edge to be the backup SG. So far though Budinger has outplayed Taylor but it is still early in summer league. Also I would think Houston is going to sign a free agent SG to replace Von Wafer.

gatorheelsParticipantThe thing I don’t like about Budinger is…he is purely a jumpshooter. He can’t defend. So far in summer league he has shot well but he has averaged only 3 rebounds, 0 assist, 0 blocks, 0 steals.

goodielecksParticipantHis ability to knockdown shots should see him get some playing time when his teams needs some instant offense. Defensively it’s very hard to see him improving much.

Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantthink jon barry, jason kapono, kyle korver, they do/did nothing but shoot.

JoeWolf1I agree, he isn’t much of a defender and im not convinced he ever will be, but he’ll get some pt and a roster spot considering the Rockets didn’t have a draft pick and traded for Budinger, so you would think they wanted him to an extent. Instant offense off the bench especially from a young athletic player is something most teams and coaches will at least give a shot, I expect him to get 12-16 minutes a game

matt12328ParticipantI watched one of his summer league games and he was taking it at Jennings the whole time.

Meditated StatesParticipantBudinger is making the team. Steal. I will take a scorer who does not do much else if he can drop 20 everynight or even 15, good enough. He takes good shots and passes well too. Played against better competition than Taylor as well.

doubledribblerParticipantBeaubois has already signed a 2 year contract to play with the Mavs, so they will have a spot for him. I think he will probably get a decent amount of playing time too. At worst he will get Jason Kidd’s scraps, which will be more than usual as he is getting up there in age. I’m not sure I can imagine the Mavs signing him to sit behind Barea, but who knows. They should be interesting to watch this year.
Budinger should have a spot. I think he was a lock for the team until Yao went down. I think when you have an inside presence like Yao, that you have to surround them with good shooters. Budinger is one of the better ones in this years class. There is always a place for good shooters, especially since they seem to becoming very rare. The guy isn’t just some three point bomber. He has nice passing skills and he can actually shoot from various spots on the court, not just stand waving for the ball.
